MSI 2023 just concluded the play-in stage. Three teams have made it to the next round of the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational and will face off against the regional winners of the LPL, LEC, LCS and LCK, as well as the LCK second seed.

LCK champions, Gen.G will be playing the LEC Winter winners, G2 Esports, but this game will not just be the first MSI appearance for Gen.G mid laner Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon, but also hold another itneresting first for the mid laner.

LoL MSI 2023: Bracket Stage Will Be First For Chovy

Chovy is one of the most well-known mid laners in League of Legends. His perfect laning, as well as game sense, have made him one of the best players in the world and last year he was finally able to beat his long time rival and the "unkillable demon king" himself, Faker.

Now, as the second round of the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational, has begun, another new first will take place for the young mid laner. This will be the first time he plays against a non-Korean mid laner at an international tournament, during a series.

Reddit user 2HoursosSleep posted a list of international series that Chovy has participated in and noted that until this point Chovy has always faced off against other Korean players, though not always on LCK teams. With Chovy playing against Caps, this will be the first non-Korean mid laner he faces.

This is Chovy's international series record:

Gen.G and G2 Esports will kick off the MSI 2023 Bracket Stage on May 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm CEST/8:00 am ET. This is a series many fans are hyped for, with both teams looking pretty good. Will G2 be able to clean up their early game for clean wins or will Gen.G show a clean performance with Chovy in the mid lane?

The Bracket Stage is a double-elimination two-bracket sprint to the finish to see who is going to take home the crown of MSI champion in London. NA fans are going to have to wait until May 11, 2023 when C9 faces off against BiliBili Gaming.
