Riot Games Celebrates Pride

This year Riot Games is once again celebrating Pride with multiple in-game accessories across multiple platforms. The initiative began five years ago and since yesterday was International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, Riot released icons, emotes and many more things.

Celebrating diversity and giving a voice to marginalized people is very important. Visibility, as well as safe spaces, are key to make anyone of the LGBTQIA+ community feel welcomed and this is just a small step towards that goal.

League of Legends LGBTQIA+ Content

In League of Legends, rainbow icons are back. Players are able to show off their pride with Rainbow Poro icons. Even in-game players can celebrate diversity with homeguard trails. These can be unlocked until the end of June.

How can you get these icons and these trails? Easy, just complete the missions which will pop up throughout the rest of May and all of June to unlock these little extras.

Of course, there are also some sweet emotes which also celebrate pride which you can pick up. Our favourite is the Leona and Diana emote made available this year.

LGBTQIA+ Content from Other Riot Games

In all other games, there will also be pride-themed content made available. Wild Rift will also have the rainbow trails unlocked in this timespan, as well as Rainbow Poro icons and an emote.

Teamfight Tactics will once again have rainbow-themed trails, celebrating the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community as well as rainbow booms which can be obtained through missions.

Legends of Runeterra is also joining in on the fun. They have made the Jubilant Colours Bundle available for a whopping 0 coins. A new LGBTQIA+ themed guardian is also available in the game.

Other LGBTQIA+ Content

Riot is also releasing other content, such as mugs and stickers. All proceeds will be going to It Gets Better Project, a nonprofit organization that helps uplift and empower people of the LGBTQIA+ community.

This year let's celebrate Pride together. The League of Legends community might not have the best rep, but together we can make a difference and help spread awareness and give visibility to the community. Here’s to a happy Pride celebration!
