League of Legends: 2022 World Champion Joins Team Liquid for 2023

Team Liquid had a promising start to the 2022 season, but fell off in the later stages, thus not even earning them a berth at the 2022 LoL World Championship. How will they upgrade their roster going forward?

Team Liquid did not have the season they expected in 2022. They had built a roster to win with star players on every single position. For the 2023 season this is going to change though, but one piece will stay once more and that is veteran player CoreJJ.

What others players will stay with the squad, and who will be replacing the members that will leave the team at the end of the 2022 season? We're going to go over all the trades and signings for Team Liquid and their 2023 LCS team.

LoL: Team Liquid to Rebuild With Young NA Talent

Team Liquid tried the superteam approach in 2022 and that did not go over well. The team didn't win either Spring nor Summer Split and didn't even qualify for the 2022 League of Legends World Championship. Therefore, management is looking to make some big changes.

One piece of the puzzle will stay the same though and that is none other than support player Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in who has been an integral part of the organization since 2018.

His contract is set to expire in November 2022, but he has re-signed with the team once more for another season. He has helped build the NA scene and tried to help foster young talent as well so keeping CoreJJ around should be a top priority.

Joining him will be two young members getting called up from Team Liquid Academy. In the bot lane Sean "Yeon" Sung will be playing alongside CoreJJ, while the mid lane position is being filled by none other than Harry "Haeri" Kang.

Korean Super-Stars Join Team Liquid for 2023 LoL Season

The top lane is going to feature none other than Park "Summit" Woo-Tae. Summit played a huge role in Cloud9's success in the 2023 LCS Spring Split, though the team failed to make it to the Mid-Season Invitational. He will be making his comeback to the LCS on Team Liquid as one of the main carries alongside two young players.

It had been rumoured for a while that Hong "Pyosik" Chang-hyeon would be playing in the LCS in 2023. He had told his stream that he won't be playing in Korea and that he has decided to join a team with great benefits and work environment, which had many believing it to be Team Liquid. Those rumours have turned out to be true.

Pyosik will complete the roster in the jungle, making this a complete Korean squad. Therefore there shouldn't be too much difficulty in terms of language and adjustment for Pyosik who will be the only player to play outside of Korea for the first time.

World Champion As Coach

Team Liquid have also announced their coaching staff with their head coach being none other than Jang "Marin" Gyeong-hwan. He won the 2015 League of Legends World Championship with SKT T1 and is going to make his coaching debut for the LCS team.He will be joined by former player Kim "Reignover" Yeu-jin as well.

This is the complete LCS roster for Team Liquid. They're hoping to bounce back from a lacklustre finish to their 2022 season. We will have to wait until the Lock-In tournament to see how good these players are together.
