The 2023 Mid-Season Invitational is going to be held in London, England this year. Which teams will be part of the revamped event though?
The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is the mid-season international tournament every single League of Legends esports fan looks forward to. This year, Riot is shaking things up with more teams and a brand-new format, but who is actually going to be participating?
Each region sends their best teams of the Winter and Spring split to represent them at the Mid-Season Invitational, to find out who is the best region halfway through the year, and to earn points for one's region for the 2023 League of Legends World Championship.
League of Legends: MSI 2023 Qualified Teams
This year, thirteen teams will be making their way to the Mid-Season Invitational. The main regions (Korea, China, EMEA and North America) will each be getting two slots, while the wildcard regions are going to have a single team competing for the title of best team halfway through the competitive season.
With a brand-new system, MSI looks to be more exciting than ever before with multiple double-elimination brackets and a lot of exciting teams competing for the MSI trophy.
Just to give you guys a refresher of the LoL Worlds 2022 finals:
MSI 2023 Format Explained
The 2023 MSI is going to have two rounds, the play-in stage featuring eight teams drawn into two double elimination brackets. Three teams will be moving onto the second stage of the tournaments, the teams that win their brackets and a third team that wins a deciding match between the second place teams of either bracket.
The second stage will feature 8 teams, five pre-determined teams and the three that qualified. They will be playing a single double elimination bracket to determine the winner of the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational.
