We try to predict the 2021 World Championship semi-final results. Will T1 miraculously win? Is Gen.G going to beat the LPL champion?
After one of the most exciting group phases in League of Legends history with tie-breakers left and right, and insane outplays, we bore witness to one of the worst quarterfinals. The games were lopsided, favoring one team, which led to fans watching three snoozefest games.
We had hoped to get more, especially out of the Gen.G vs. Cloud9 series where it seemed like North America had a real shot at making semis. MAD also rolled over belly-up without much of a fight, disappointing fans – and let’s not talk about the Twitter shitstorm that followed that series.
So, now that we’ve got the top four teams in the world – three from the LCK and one from the LPL – we have to try and predict the unpredictable. Will it be an all-LCK final? Can EDG finally win Worlds? Is T1 going to beat the behemoth that is DAMWON KIA?
LoL Worlds 2021 Semi-Final: DWG KIA vs. T1
This series is the one everyone is looking forward to. A rematch of the 2021 LCK Summer Split playoff finals. T1 only managed to take a game off DWG KIA, but back then, T1 was in way worse shape than they are now. They’re looking like a strong contender and most fans would have wished for this game to be the finals – we’re getting 2016 ROX vs. SKT vibes, and we hope this series delivers the same hype.
Can T1 beat DAMWON? Yes. Will it be easy? No. DAMWON KIA has the best jungler in the world, Canyon basically stealing away all games in the quarterfinal with his magnificent play on Lee Sin. ShowMaker is also in a class of his own, and Khan is desperate for a trophy before his retirement.
On the other hand, T1 has the best player in the history of League of Legends on their side and an insane bot lane which they’ll have to play through. Keria has been a solid support for T1 and his roaming plays have led them to the semi-finals.
Our Prediction: DWG KIA 3 - 2 T1
LoL Worlds 2021 Semi-Final: Gen.G vs. EDG
This semi-final is left in the shadow of the behemoth which is DWG KIA and T1. EDG have shown great resilience in their series against RNG – the only really interesting quarter-final this year. Most believe this to be the weaker semi-final, but we’re expecting a thrilling series. Ruler vs. Viper, who is the better bot laner? BDD and Scout facing off, these are the matchups we’re excited for.
Gen.G has shown just how well they can prepare, finding a solution to anything Cloud9 whipped their way. The Aatrox counter to Yasuo was smart, and then BDD showed off his comfort with a great Syndra performance, outclassing Perkz in every game.
EDG bounced back from a bad week 2 performance in groups and managed to overpower the reigning MSI champions RNG in an all-LPL quarter-final. Viper showed why he is one of the best ADCs in the world, carrying the team with his Ezreal and Aphelios play.
Our Prediction: Gen.G 1 - 3 EDG
When Will the Semi-Finals Take Place?
The first semi-final is going to be T1 against DAMWON KIA. The game is set to start at 14:00 CEST on October 30, 2021. The second sem-final will start at 13:00 CET on October 31, 2021. You can watch both matches over the official lolesports website to get some free emotes!
