Astralis were the big scalp to fall on the first day of ESL Pro League Season 11 day one. On day two, the unexpected results multiplied as Natus Vincere, Fnatic and Complexity all faced defeats in their Group B openers.
Denmark back on track on ESL Pro League Season 11 second day
What Astralis couldn’t accomplish against Ninjas in Pyjamas, their compatriots from North did in their match versus in-form Natus Vincere. The IEM Katowice champions are among the heavy favorites for the Pro League crown but will have to deal with a 0-1 deficit in Group B after a heavy defeat at the hands of North.
Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen and co. played perhaps their best game in 2020 vs. Na’Vi and finished as comfortable winners on both Nuke and Dust2. René “cajunb” Borg was the star of the day, accumulating 46 kills.
The remaining Group B games were not any kinder to the favored sides. Fnatic couldn’t overcome a subpar performance by Jesper “JW” Wecksell and fell in three maps to BIG Clan. Team captain Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz led the server with 60 impressive kills.
The highest amount of drama was reserved for the forZe – Complexity match, however. The teams exchanged 16-9 results on the first two maps and played their way through all 30 regular rounds on Mirage straight into overtime. Complexity couldn’t make the most of starting OT on the more comfortable CT side and surprisingly, the overtime period and the game itself went to forZe.
We return to Group A for the next batch of games. In round two Ninjas in Pyjamas will play Team Spirit, Team Vitality are up against ENCE Esports, and Astralis will try to recover against GODSENT.
