GTA V is one of the most popular and successful games of all time. Nothing new eh? There are good reasons why the game has been kept active for almost 8 years now. We finally have official numbers and can congratulate Rockstar on an absolutely absurd record.
In a new financial earnings call, publisher Take-Two has announced that GTA V has sold many many copies! SURPRIIIISE!
In total, GTA V has sold over 140 million copies since its release in 2013. It's the second best-selling video game of all time, right after Minecraft? Yep. That's still really abysmal, but shouldn't be a surprise either, considering that the game is constantly being fed new content and released on new hardware over and over again. This causes it to consistently pop up in the video game charts.

Although it is more than seven years old at this point, 2020 was the best year for GTA V since its release. According to Take-Two, more copies of Grand Theft Auto V were sold last year (20 million) than in any other year since 2013, when the title first appeared on PS3 and Xbox 360. Recurring spending for Grand Theft Auto Online grew 28% year-over-year, exceeding the company's third-quarter forecast. Someone must really be rolling in the dough.
