In a developer update, Paradox Interactive announced that Bloodlines 2 will not be released this year. The developers Hardsuit Labs are out of the project and the release date is now a mystery.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 was initially supposed to get released back in 2020. The game was delayed to 2021 so it doesn't get overshadowed by Cyberpunk 2077 (which turned out to be a disaster). Many of us were looking forward to the new release date of April 2021 until the game got delayed again. Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, Paradox posted an update.
The studio announced that Bloodlines 2 will not be released this year. Since it is not yet clear when the game will be released at all, all pre-orders on the official site will be stopped. Once again, we're getting proof of why it's not a good idea to pre-order anything nowadays.
But wait there's more! The post also states that the developers from Hardsuit Labs are no longer working on Bloodlines 2. It's not clear who will replace them but maybe we'll see another announcement down the line. This isn't the first time someone leaves the project as previously lead writer Brian Mitsoda (who worked on the original Bloodlines) was also fired.
This game is very important to us and it has been an ambitious project from the very start. In order to meet our goals for it, we’ve come to the conclusion that a change is needed and, as a result, more development time is required.
Could it get any worse? Yeah probably, if the game gets canceled. For now, a death sentence is out of the question and we remain hopeful. Still, this unexpected update raises a few questions:
- Was the game not ready for release?
- Was there a sudden change in the narrative?
We may eventually find the answers.

To sum it all up, Bloodlines 2 won't be released in 2021 and it's unclear whether it'll be 2022 or even further down the line. Did Paradox kill your hype for the title? Tell us on Facebook or Twitter!
