Oh, how long every Mass Effect fan has begged BioWare to make this happen, and now it’s finally going to happen. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, or simpler, Mass Effect Remastered, was announced at the Game Awards 2020 and is apparently coming out in March 2021 already! Here’s why you should definitely play the trilogy (again)!
Mass Effect is undoubtedly one of the best RPG’s out there. Hand in hand with Dragon Age, BioWare set the bar for what a good RPG should look and feel like incredibly high.
We spent three games playing the story of N7 Commander Shepard. We made countless choices (many of us the same ones over and over again, that unfortunately includes me) and romanced our favorite characters (again, that's on me). We built a connection with the characters and story, we fell in love with the world and lore, and even after all this time, many fans still go back to the game. Call it nostalgia, or simply a game extremely well-made.
The only issue - apart from the ending - that many fans have with the trilogy nowadays, is that you can, unfortunately, tell how old the game is. Especially the first one.

Mass Effect 1 came out in 2007. That’s almost 15 years ago, folks.
And while many don’t mind starting the game mid-way, say with Mass Effect 2, which already had improved graphics, if not very good ones, many would prefer to play the entire story of Shepard, meaning Mass Effect 1-3.
And that’s what the Mass Effect Legendary Edition is going to fix.
Imagine flying through the universe with the Normandy… in 4K. Maybe that’s just the nerd in me, but space in 4K gets me so excited.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any story changes - especially in regards to that end, that might not be so bad if you look at the trailer for the next Mass Effect game, but a few story tweaks here and there would have still been nice (you know... like actually seeing what Tali looks like... or getting a sex scene with Garrus. Just me? Okay.)
If you’ve never touched Mass Effect in your life, then don’t even look at the original trilogy when the Mass Effect Legendary Edition comes out. Just play this one and you’ll be blown away.
If you’ve played the trilogy, then re-visit this masterpiece and experience it in 4K. It’ll take you back to when you first played in, what you felt back then, and how much you liked it (hopefully).
And don’t forget that you’ll get all three games in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. So that's actually a really good deal as well!
It’s worth it, guys. Seriously.
