Magic The Gathering Arena’s latest and greatest expansion, Kaladesh Remastered, promises to inject new life into Historic by bringing two old sets, Kaladesh and Aether Revolt, by combining them into one draftable experience. But those sets have broken the game before and players aren’t exactly optimistic they won’t break it again.
How Does Kaladesh Remastered Work?
Kaladesh Remastered follows the same formula from Amonkhet Remastered – it takes a two-set block and combines it into one big, draftable experience, by taking key cards from both sets, removing some problematic ones, and even adding a few that were never in the original set.
Amonkhet Remastered boarded the hype train with a mini-preview season and added to Historic powerhouses such as Wrath of God.
Why the Skepticism?
Now that the complete card list of Kaladesh Remastered is revealed, we see that Wizards stray from the formula already.
Some all-stars such as Panharmonicon are here, but only one non-Kaladesh card is included in the set. Looks like they opted to give Sculpting Steel the fancy Invention card frame and call it a day. Of course, players are upset that other inventions, most notably Aether Vial, are not here.
Another concern echoed across the community is Wizards' tendency to put out cards and then immediately ban them. Just scanning the comment section under the announcement video will show things like user Lindyn stating:
cant wait to see how long till aether works marvel is banned
User Dante Rodrigues saying:
Lol @ “ shake up the historic format without overpowering it” i find that hard to believe
And user JaceMD015 saying:
"INCLUDING AETHEWRORKS MARVEL"3 Days later: BannedI swear if they banned marvel or ulamog thats it for me.
