The week of metal is over and some cards have already been spoiled, but what will the mechanics and overall feel of Kalheim be like? We will find out in a special reveal stream on January 7!
Kaldheim is almost here! We told you some initial details about Magic: The Gathering’s latest set and how cool heavy metal bands have been promoting it already. We know for a fact, that the double-faced Pathway land cycle will be completed, new gods will be introduced, and - very thematically! - Sagas are back! What’s even cooler is that all legendary creatures in the set will also come in a rare, special card frame that oozes with Viking-inspired coolness. Check it out:
Honestly, these are arguably the coolest showcase frames we’ve seen to date!
Sure, we could marvel at cool cards all day, but that doesn’t answer the big question: what’s the gameplay like? Kaldheim will feature multiple new mechanics on top of the Sagas we’ve already seen, and we can’t wait to see what they are all about! Since the tag line for the set is #RaiseYourAxe we expect to see some combat-oriented mayhem reminiscent of the Tarkir mechanics from back in the day.
