Let’s get on the ladder and start winning some games! Listed below are the top 3 Standard decks to play right now, according to none other than the World Champion himself, Paulo Vitor “PVDDR” Damo da Rosa!
Kaldheim is right around the corner and it will bring tons of changes to Standard, plus a certain shift in Historic. Now is the perfect time to examine what the best decks are to play in the current environment and get some games going, so we're prepared to meet the new cards and jump straight into the Kaldheim action. Enough talk, let’s build some decks!
Top 3 MTG Standard Decks: Dimir Rogues
Companion1 Lurrus of the Dream-DenDeck3 Agadeem's Awakening2 Bloodchief's Thirst4 Clearwater Pathway4 Drown in the Loch4 Fabled Passage4 Into the Story5 Island4 Ruin Crab4 Soaring Thought-Thief3 Swamp4 Temple of Deceit4 Thieves' Guild Enforcer2 Zagoth Triome1 Didn't Say Please1 Essence Scatter3 Of One Mind2 Heartless Act3 Merfolk Windrobber3 Lullmage's DominationSideboard2 Bloodchief's Thirst1 Lurrus of the Dream-Den3 Mystical Dispute2 Cling to Dust4 Skyclave Shade3 Negate
A lot has been said about Dimir Rogues and we won’t bore you with more of the same now. It was a surprise hit when it was first introduced and the deck quickly solidified its place as a top performer in the metagame. Seriously, you can’t go wrong with that one.

Top 3 MTG Standard Decks: Red-Green/ Gruul
Deck3 Questing Beast1 Primal Might4 Embercleave4 Shatterskull Smashing4 Cragcrown Pathway1 The Akroan War3 Embereth Shieldbreaker4 Kazandu Mammoth4 Brushfire Elemental8 Forest4 Lovestruck Beast4 Edgewall Innkeeper2 The Great Henge4 Mountain4 Fabled Passage4 Bonecrusher Giant2 Scavenging Ooze
Sideboard2 Soul Sear2 Wilt2 Phoenix of Ash2 The Akroan War3 Ox of Agonas2 Vivien, Monsters' Advocate2 Fire Prophecy
Red-green, or Gruul, is currently the world champ's favorite color combination to play, and that’s very telling. If an aggressive, but flexible deck works for the best in the world, then it damn sure works for us. Give this one a try to spice things up!
Top 3 MTG Standard Decks: Mongo-Green Food
Deck2 Bonders' Enclave2 Vivien, Monsters' Advocate2 Witch's Oven1 Kogla, the Titan Ape4 Kazandu Mammoth4 Tangled Florahedron2 Crawling Barrens15 Forest4 Lovestruck Beast3 Trail of Crumbs4 Gilded Goose4 Castle Garenbrig4 Feasting Troll King3 The Great Henge4 Wicked Wolf1 Ilysian Caryatid1 Thrashing Brontodon
Sideboard3 Questing Beast1 Primal Might1 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon1 Ram Through1 Wilt1 Vivien, Monsters' Advocate2 Scavenging Ooze4 Chainweb Aracnir1 Thrashing Brontodon
If you don’t want any red in your build, it’s perfectly viable to go all Green in this mono Food build. Use Witch’s Oven and Lovestruck Beast in their originally intended way and outlast your opponent with all the synergies, pushed over the edge with the life gain to boost.
Again, these decks are here today, but won’t be the same with the arrival of Kaldheim, so you should act fast. New Standard powerhouses are coming, such as this one:
The preview card I got from WotC might be Standard's new 2-drop for many aggressive decks. It looks a lot like Midnight Reaper, but I think it will play out quite differently! Article with my thoughts and some decklists will be up on @StarCityGames soon pic.twitter.com/tlOZaTGM1h
