Historic is the latest MTGA format to welcome the World of Kaladesh to its card pool and has added even more viable decks to the meta. However, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Today, we take a look at the best 3 decks on the Mythic Ladder, so shuffle-up, it's time to duel!
The MTG Arena's Mythic Ladder has reset. How will you climb to the top? We have 3 decks that you should expect to see and be ready to play against. Currently, Star City Games and Channel Fireball are hosting weekly qualifiers via the SCG Online Tour and the CBF Clash, so we are looking at the various results from those events to determine our top 3 decks.
In November, we had a look at the top Standard decksbut things change fast in the world of MTG so we have some new decks to consider.
1. Azorius Aura
For the uninitiated, we have the Voltron archetype. What is Voltron, you ask? It's a reference to an old TV show, think an older version of The Power Rangers. But what is it all about?
The idea behind this deck is to load up a creature with a lot of powerful Aura cards and then protect it with cheap spells like Karametra's Blessing or Alseid of Life's Bounty.
Once you have assembled a creature with enough Auras, you swing with a huge beefer and end the game quickly. Cards like Kor Spiritdancer and Curious Obsession provide the fuel for your big creatures and keep you in the game.
Deck Weaknesses: Any board sweeper that exiles or hand disruption spells

2 Karametra's Blessing (THB) 263 Heliod's Punishment (THB) 213 Sentinel's Eyes (THB) 363 Cartouche of Knowledge (AKR) 514 Cartouche of Solidarity (AKR) 84 Curious Obsession (JMP) 1484 All That Glitters (ELD) 22 Sram, Senior Edificer (KLR) 323 Selfless Savior (M21) 363 Hushbringer (ELD) 184 Alseid of Life's Bounty (THB) 14 Kor Spiritdancer (JMP) 1162 Island (KLR) 2904 Glacial Fortress (XLN) 2554 Hallowed Fountain (RNA) 25111 Plains (KLR) 2883 Baffling End (RIX) 13 Grafdigger's Cage (M20) 2272 Disdainful Stroke (GRN) 372 Spell Pierce (XLN) 811 Lurrus of the Dream-Den (IKO) 2261 Aether Gust (M20) 421 Rest in Peace (AKR) 331 Selfless Savior (M21) 361 Hushbringer (ELD) 18
2. Goblins
So get this, in the Goblins deck in Historic MTG Arena, you cast Goblins the entire game until you win. BAM! A stunning revelation.
But in all seriousness, this deck is fire. There are so many good Goblins to choose from. Many have been intentionally seeded into Historic like the all-time classic – Goblin Matron which was originally printed in 7th Edition! A reference for you old school players.
Even the oddly out-of-place mana ramp goblin, Skirk Prospector, is present. WoTC definitely wants this to be a real deck. The best way to play this deck is not to just play your entire hand but only play what is needed, holding back some resources for the inevitable board sweeper or spot removal spell. Knowing when to go for a fast win or a slow roll is the key to your success.
Deck Weaknesses: Board sweepers, spot removal, life gain, and defensive creatures.

1 Goblin Chainwhirler (DAR) 1291 Goblin Cratermaker (GRN) 1031 Gempalm Incinerator (LGN) 943 Skirk Prospector (DAR) 1443 Goblin Warchief (DAR) 1304 Wily Goblin (XLN) 1744 Muxus, Goblin Grandee (JMP) 244 Goblin Chieftain (JMP) 3244 Conspicuous Snoop (M21) 1394 Goblin Matron (MH1) 1294 Krenko, Mob Boss (JMP) 3393 Irencrag Feat (ELD) 1271 Phyrexian Tower (JMP) 4934 Castle Embereth (ELD) 23919 Mountain (KLR) 2981 Goblin Cratermaker (GRN) 1031 Goblin Trashmaster (ANB) 722 Abrade (AKR) 1362 Goblin Ringleader (M20) 1433 Redcap Melee (ELD) 1353 Chandra, Torch of Defiance (KLR) 1173 Herald's Horn (JMP) 469
3. Sultai Control
Seth Manfiled's Worlds deck is still at the top of the meta! Thoughtseize and Nissa, Who Shakes the World are just good Magic cards and it will take a banning or another set's release to dethrone them.
Kaladesh Remastered was unable to shake up the format as WoTC was conservative with the card choices and didn't even chance a reprinting of Felidar Guardian or Smuggler Copter both cards so good they were banned during their run in Standard.
Again, the deck is the same – ramp into a Nissa by using Uro and Growth Spiral, control the game with removal and hand disruption until Nissa runs away with the game.
Deck Weaknesses: Control decks tuned to beat Sultai control, fast Goblin draws and hand disruption

The current Historic meta in MTG Arena changes literally every day. Any deck that can rank you up is arguably the best deck to play. Always keep in mind that sideboard cards can and should change based on what decks you think you will play against on that day.
The purpose of the 15-card sideboard is to make a bad matchup better, a way to counter a card that is hard to beat. May your top decks be strong, and we’ll see you on the ladder!
