Grab your Magic Eight Ball and give it a shake because we are looking at December's Standard Meta on MTGA. Today, we take a look at the Top 3 decks in that will help you climb that Arena Ladder!
MTG Arena's Mythic Ladder has reset. How will you climb to the top? We have three decks that you should expect to see and be ready to play against.
Currently, Star City Games and Channel Fireball are hosting weekly qualifiers via the SCG Online Tour and the CBF Clash, so we are looking at the various results from those events to determine our top 3 decks. In November, we had a look at the top Standard decks but things change fast in the world of MTG so we have some new decks to consider.
Ready to play some MTG?
1. Mono Green Aggro
The Deck is easy to understand – it's big, it's mean and it's green. Play a curve of creatures that include Gilded Goose, Tangled Florahedron to ramp into a Feasting Troll King, all in an effort to play a faster Great Hedge. Can't find the right cards? This is where Trial of Crumbs leads you down the right path as you filter out the smaller creatures to find your bigger spells.

Deck Weaknesses: Board sweepers like Extinction Event or Shatter the Sky counter the deck, as well as Spot removal spells like Heartless Act and Bloodcheif's Thirst.

2 Kogla, the Titan Ape (IKO) 1622 Thrashing Brontodon (M21) 2093 Feasting Troll King (ELD) 1524 Kazandu Mammoth (ZNR) 1894 Wicked Wolf (ELD) 1814 Tangled Florahedron (ZNR) 2114 Gilded Goose (ELD) 1604 Lovestruck Beast (ELD) 1652 Witch's Oven (ELD) 2373 The Great Henge (ELD) 1614 Trail of Crumbs (ELD) 1791 Vivien, Monsters' Advocate (IKO) 1752 Bonders' Enclave (IKO) 2452 Crawling Barrens (ZNR) 2624 Castle Garenbrig (ELD) 24015 Forest (KLR) 3001 Thrashing Brontodon (M21) 2091 Vivien, Monsters' Advocate (IKO) 1751 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon (M21) 11 Wilt (IKO) 1762 Primal Might (M21) 1973 Scavenging Ooze (M21) 2043 Chainweb Aracnir (THB) 1673 Garruk, Unleashed (M21) 183
2. Dimir Control
Dimir Control is a straightforward control deck. Use counterspells and removal to keep the board clear of threats and end the game with Ugin, The Spirit Dragon or a Shark Typhoon to finish off the opponent. The difficulty comes in sequencing your spells correctly and being as efficient as possible in removing threats while maintaining your card advantage.
If this sounds complicated, that's because it is! To get to the point in the game where you can land a Eugene and win is hard to do and this is not the first deck we would recommend to an MTG beginner.
Deck Weaknesses: Fast opening hands from Mono Red or other Control decks better tuned for the control mirror

3. Esper Doom Yorion
Esper Doom plays for the late game, no winning fast with this deck! The focus card in the deck is Doom Foretold – how fitting! – which forces your opponents to slowly sacrifice their board position.
It uses Yorion to blink the powerful cards Elspeth Conquers Death and Skyclave Apparition. Your goal is to keep Doom Foretold in play long enough so your opponent has no permanents. Eventually, your opponent will run out of cards and you kill them in the air with Yorion.
Deck Weaknesses: Fast Draws from Mono Red and Control decks made to beat other control decks
Let's take a look at a common version of the Esper Doom Yorion decklist. As usual, MTG Standard decks are always open to card changes and tweaks as long as you keep the core of the deck the same.

The current Standard meta in MTGA changes literally every day. Any deck that can rank you up is arguably the best deck to play. Always keep in mind that sideboard cards can and should change based on what decks you think you will play against on that day.
The purpose of the 15-card sideboard is to make a bad matchup better, a way to counter a card that is hard to beat. May your top decks be strong, and we’ll see you on the ladder!
