Let's take a moment and look at the current decks in MTGA Standard as of November 2020. We have 3 great decks for you to play and climb that Mythic Ladder with.

The Standard format is the major focus of the current MTGA pro scene, with two big tournaments that recently reached their conclusion. The MTGA Arena Open Qualifier and the Red Bull Untapped 2020 World Finals saw the best players compete in global MTG. Especially the Red Bull Finals, which was very difficult to qualify for and they ran for months leading up to the final which was won by Gruul Aggro piloted by Kazune Kosaka.

Let’s dive into our Top 3 Standard meta decks to beat in November. Expect to run into all of these on the Mythic Ladder!

3. Esper Doom Yorion

Esper Doom plays for the late game, no winning fast with this deck! The focus card in the deck is Doom Foretold which forces your opponents to slowly sacrifice their board position. It uses Yorion to blink the powerful Elspeth Conquers Death and Skyclave Apparition to help Doom Foretold keep the opponent without any permanents. Eventually, your opponent will run out of cards and you kill them in the air with Yorion.

Let's take a look at a common version of the Esper Doom Yorion decklist. As usual, MTGA Standard decks are always open to card changes and tweaks as long as you keep the core of the deck the same.

2. Abzan Aggro

A new deck enters the MTGA meta in November! Abzan Aggro also uses the powerful combo of Yorion and Skyclave Apparition to control board position, but also utilizes the old favorite from the Throne of Eldrane meta, Wicked Wolf. Throw in the engine card Trail of Crumbs to fuel card draw and get a one-shot kill with Wicked Wolf eating the extra food tokens you generate.

This deck uses powerful adventure cards to keep pressuring the opponent with big creatures and card draw. The deck tries to end the game with the powerful Embercleave card. With Innkeeper and Stomp//Bonecrusher Giant, you can maintain pressure and card draw. It was also one of our top decks from our last look at the MTGA standard meta!

The current Standard meta in MTGA changes literally every day. Any deck that can rank you up is arguably the best deck to play. Always keep in mind that sideboard cards can and should change based on what decks you think you will play against on that day.

The purpose of the 15-card sideboard is to make a bad matchup better, a way to counter a card that is hard to beat. May your top decks be strong, and we’ll see you on the ladder!
