On May 12, 2024 the Hashira Training Arc kicked off for Demon Slayer fans. This is probably the shortest arc in the entire series, spanning only 9 chapters in the manga. This has fans wondering how long the fourth season of Demon Slayer will truly be and why it wasn't just included with the previous season.

But ufotable has revealed that they will turn this training arc into a full-fledged season, but with so little source material, how many episodes can be made?

Demon Slayer Season 4: Nine Chapters Into Full Fledged Season?

Demon Slayer Season 4 kicked off with an hour-long special, adapting about two and a half chapters in the span of a single extra-long episode. This has viewers wondering where exactly the anime will stop before heading into the Final Battle Arc, where the Infinity Castle Arc will kick everything off.

Going by previous adaptations, then we can estimate that the season should be between 5 and 8 episodes long. Demon Slayer also kicked off their spring run much later than other Spring 2024 anime, with most already starting in early April, while Demon Slayer waited until mid-May, which could mean that it will only feature 5 or 8 episodes.

The Rehabilitation Training Arc was around 9 chapters in the manga and featured 5 episodes in the anime. Similarly, the Mugen Train Arc, which was 13 chapters, got 7 episodes. So depending on how much ufotable will add to the current season, we expect a short season as well.

How Many Seasons Will Demon Slayer Still Have?

Right now, it looks like two more seasons will be added to the Demon Slayer series. The Final Battle Arc is the only one still in front of Tanjiro and his friends. The Final Battle arc is split into the Infinity Castle Arc and the Sunrise Countdown Arc, with the Infinity Castle Arc being twice as long, so we could imagine it releasing in two cours.
