Shrek 2 was a huge success, releasing in May 2004. The film grossed over $919 million worldwide with a budget of approximately $150 million. The movie was a commercial success with positive reviews, making it a standout sequel in the animated film industry.

Since then, there have been multiple spinoffs, as well as a Shrek 3 and Shrek 4 as well. There is also currently a Shrek 5 rumored to be in the making, though there isn't a lot of information on this project yet.
