Shrek is back in theaters, and it's time to feel old, because the second film is turning 20 in 2024.
Shrek is love... Shrek is life. And Shrek is also super f*cking old. The first movie was released in 2001 and the second made its way to theaters in May 2004. This year, the DreamWorks Oscar nominated movie is going to be returning to theaters!
To celebrate Shrek 2 turning 20, a number of cinemas will be showing the old movie once more, with tickets already going on sale.
Shrek 2 In Theaters: Which Cinemas Are Showing The Classic Show?
To celebrate Shrek 2, specific AMC and Cinemark locations across the United States will be showing the film in theaters. Shrek fans can purchase tickets for either $10 (Cinemark) or $5 (AMC). You'll have to check whether your local cinema is going to be showing Shrek 2 though.
The film should be shown starting April 12, 2024, so you've got about a month to see whether you can see this animated classic or if you'll have to just pull up your old DVD player to watch it at home.

Shrek 2 was a huge success, releasing in May 2004. The film grossed over $919 million worldwide with a budget of approximately $150 million. The movie was a commercial success with positive reviews, making it a standout sequel in the animated film industry.
Since then, there have been multiple spinoffs, as well as a Shrek 3 and Shrek 4 as well. There is also currently a Shrek 5 rumored to be in the making, though there isn't a lot of information on this project yet.
