Saturday morning cartoons were a huge part of anyone growing up in the 90s and early 2000s. Now, one of the most popular cartoons is getting an HD reboot on Disney+.
Disney+ is going to be bringing back one of the most popular superhero cartoons from the 90s. It had been announced previously, but a release date for the first season of the new X-Men '97 has finally been revealed, and soon you can re-live your childhood on the streaming platform.
This is the first X-Men title produced by Marvel Studio, so the hopes are high that this animated series is going to hit it big both with older viewers – thanks nostalgia – but also younger viewers.
The X-Men Make A Return To Television
Between 1992 and 1997 one of the most popular cartoons was none other than X-Men: The Animated Series. The series spanned 5-seasons with 76 episodes. Now, almost 30-years later, the series is getting a reboot, starting right where the original series left off.
X-Men '97 had already been announced, but with a brand-new trailer, fans finally get to catch a glimpse of the characters as well as a reveal for the release date.
In this series, Cyclops, Wolverine and Storm will face new challenges after the loss of their leader Professor X. One of the most well-known X-Men villains, Magneto, is now working along with them to fight the evil Mister Sinister. Who would have thought we'd see the day Magneto worked along with the X-Men, right?
X-Men '97 has already been greenlit for a season 2, before the first even aired. Season 1 is going to be added to Disney+ on March 20. Multiple voice actors from the original series in the 90s will reprise their roles – like Cal Dodd as Wolveine or Lenore Zann as Rogue – in X-Men '97, which is going to add to the nostalgia factor as well.
