Ninjas in Pyjamas are ready to enter a new era. The legendary CS:GO organization has officially parted ways with the last remaining member of the ESL One Cologne 2014-winning squad – Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg.
Who is f0rest?
The 31-year-old rifler had been part of NiP since the team’s very first day in CS:GO. Together with Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund, Adam “friberg” Friberg, Richard “Xizt” Landström and Robin “Fifflaren” Johansson f0rest won numerous significant events in the early days of Global Offensive, including a Major at ESL One Cologne 2014. This particular lineup will always remain in CS:GO history for their ridiculous 87 consecutive maps won in LAN events in late 2012-early 2013 – a record that’s never going to be broken, at least on this version of the game.
Fifflaren’s retirement in 2014 began a slow process of decay for the original Ninjas. After switching their fifth player for years without much success, the remaining four members of the 87-0 squad started exiting the organization one by one. It all began with friberg's departure in 2017. His mates soon followed suit, one per year – Xizt left in 2018, Get_RiGhT - in 2019, and now f0rest - in 2020.
What now for NiP and f0rest
Ninjas in Pyjamas have signed Tim “nawwk” Jonasson to fill the vacant spot on the roster. The 22-year-old AWPer joins from GamerLegion where he was playing with another former Ninja – Dennis “dennis” Edman. This move finally puts an end to the drawn-out separation process between the organization and its original CS:GO lineup. With nawwk, NiP now have:
- Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson
- Simon “twist” Eliasson
- Fredrik “REZ” Sterner
- Tim “nawwk” Jonasson
- Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora
As for f0rest, rumors are circling that the legend would join forces with former teammates GeT_RiGhT, friberg, and Xizt under the Dignitas banner. Of course, this is not 2013, and the realistic expectations from such a squad should not be super high, but if the mere thought of this doesn’t get your heart pumping, you’re not human at all.
