No release date or price for the PS5 is known yet - we must wait a bit more and maybe we will find out during Gamescom 2020. But there is one way to get in line and be the first to buy the PS5.
People who have a "US based address” have a chance to be one of the first people to pre-order it.
First PS5 Pre-Orders Will Be Invite-Only
If you go to PlayStation’s site and find the PS5 Direct Pre-Orders page on PlayStation's website, Sony says that "there will be a limited quantity of PS5 consoles available for pre-order, so we will be inviting some of our existing consumers to be one of the first to pre-order one from PlayStation."
A first-come-first-serve policy will be used so if you are one of the lucky fans selected to pay for the pre-order don’t wait to book it as Sony encourages you to do it fast.
People who are interested in getting on the pre-order list can enter their PlayStation Network IDs and if selected by Sony the instructions to get a PS5 at launch will be emailed to you. So, make sure the e-mail for your PlayStation ID is active.
Most importantly, Sony said in an FAQ that the lucky chosen is “based on previous interest and PlayStation activities.” This means if you are an active PlayStation user you have a good chance to be first in line.
Invitees' Orders Will Be Limited
Those selected for the first round will be able to preorder the following things, in the stated limited amounts per PSN ID
- 1 PS5 Console OR 1 PS5 Digital Edition
- 2 DualSense wireless controllers
- 2 DualSense charging stations
- 2 Pulse 3D wireless headsets
- 2 Media remotes
- 2 HD cameras
It is not known how non-US residents will get the PS5 at this time - maybe if you have a friend or family member living in the US they could sign you up, but PlayStation said that if any orders are made outside of the US they will be canceled.
