OGA Dota PIT is the big Dota 2 tournament in Europe and it’s about to start in a matter of hours! Check out all the unexpected roster changes for it.
The OGA Dota PIT is starting today, September 23, and will continue up until Saturday, September 26. The list of teams is now fully clear as the closed qualifiers came to an end:
- OG
- Team Nigma
- Team Secret
- VP.Prodigy
- Alliance
- Team Liquid
- Natus Vincere
- 5men
The eight teams will compete over the lion’s share of the $170,000 prize pool. Sadly, the event won’t have a group stage as the teams will be seeded directly into the upper bracket playoffs. It’s going to be double elimination and all games will be Bo3 with the exception of the grand finals (Bo5).
The Stand-Ins
Out of the eight teams, three will be playing with a stand-in and that might mean they won’t be performing at their best.
RrmN- Replacing KuroKy
Team Nigma’s captain will be missing all the action as he’s still recovering from a hand injury.
Our Captain is still recovering@NigmaKuroKy is still going through his treatment and @rmN_dota will be standing in during @OGADotaPIT.We wish Kuro a speedy recovery#StarsAlign pic.twitter.com/8AV6huSwxk

Roman "rmN-" Paley will be the one fill the missing gap, taking Kuro "KuroKy" Takhasomi’s place for the duration of the event. Paley is Team Nigma’s coach so he should be on par with the rest of the team in terms of strategy.
Sockshka Replacing Topson
Something similar is happening with OG, as Titouan "Sockshka" Merloz (also the team’s coach) will be filling in for Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen. The reason for it is a whole lot better though as Topson became a father in the past week and that seems like a very good reason to skip the event.
It's a girl, Mawar and I couldn't be happier and the birth went smooth. I love her so much already pic.twitter.com/rKy7N5CTjH

Gpk and Lil RReplace fn and Eine
Last but not least, some changes are coming to VP.Prodigy. The secondary roster of Virtus.pro proved that they’re a force to be reckoned with, arguably surpassing the achievements of their bigger brothers. An old member of VP is making his return to the team, even if it’s just as a stand-in. We’re talking about Ilya "Lil" Ilyuk.
VP.Prodigy roster for the upcoming @OGADotaPIT S3 has changed.@GambitEsports' Danil > Skutin will be taking over the mid lane as a stand-in. Our position 4 for this tournament will be Ilya > Ilyuk @LilJke also joining as stand-in. Read more: https://t.co/sBrEpkALVZ pic.twitter.com/Jb3a8aYnEl

Danil “gpk” Skutin will be replacing Rostislav "fn" Lozovoi, while Lil will be standing in for Albert "eine" Garaev.
Virtus.pro CEO Sergey Glamazda commented:
All teams come to a point where it’s crucial to make changes in order to reach new heights. For this upcoming tournament we decided to switch things up not only by replacing 2 of our players for individuals as much talented, but also by letting our team captain Vitaly play full support role. We are grateful to Danil for his willingness to play for us in OGA Dota PIT S3 and to Gambit Esports for cooperation. We also highly appreciate Ilya’s agreement to temporarily come back under The Bear’s tag.As always, we are setting the highest goals for our team, even though the guys haven’t had enough time to practice together. We’ll be joining you, friends, on live streams and cheering for the team. Thank you for being with us, your support in the next few days will be essential.
OGA Dota Pit will start at 2:00 PM CEST today opening with the series between Team Nigma and NAVI. You can catch the action on the official OGA Dota Pit Twitch stream.
