OGA Dota PIT, one of the more famous Dota 2 series of events, has officially announced that the next tournament would venture into North and Latin America.
OGA Dota PIT was initially supposed to be a LAN, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, it also switched to an online format like many others. The first season had teams competing in two regions – China and Europe/CIS. The series is currently in its second season and the China region event is already underway. In the past weekend, the organizers of the tournament revealed that the next stop would be in NA and LATAM. The news came from the official OGA Dota PIT Twitter account.

The event itself will kick off this Thursday, July 16, and come to an end on July 21 (Tuesday). A rather weird time frame for a tournament. The event is sponsored by some very famous brands which most of us are familiar with – AMD, Sapphire Technology, Ray Gaming, HyperX, Raybet and TikTok.
The teams
The list of teams is already clear and it includes the best ones both regions have to offer. All of the eight teams received a direct invitation to the event as no qualifiers were held. As one might expect, half the teams are from NA and half from LATAM:
- CR4ZY
- Quincy Crew
- beastcoast
- 4 Zoomers
- Midas Club
- business associates
- Infamous
- Thunder Predator
There's one team obviously missing from it all. When you think NA Dota 2, Evil Geniuses are one of the bigger organizations, but they're nowhere to be found. EG also withdrew from The Great American Rivalry which started earlier this month. The team sure is skipping events, and the reason is still unclear.
The format
OGA Dota PIT won't have a group stage as the teams will be starting directly in the playoffs. Teams will have to suffer two losses before getting disqualified. All series will be Bo3, except the grand final which is a Bo5.
The total prize pool for the event stands at $25,000, which isn't nearly as much as we've used to see in other recent events. The winners of OGA Dota PIT Americas will take roughly 40% of it. Here's the full distribution:
- $10,422.50
- $5,415
- $2,915
- $2,082.50
- $1,250
- $1,250
- $832.5
- $832.5
An official stream will be available on Twitch. You can find even more information on the official Dota PIT website.
OGA Dota PIT Season 2: China
As we've mentioned earlier the Chinese region is already playing some highly competitive Dota 2. The tournament is already in the playoffs and only four teams remain – Vici Gaming and CDEC Gaming in the upper bracket and Invictus Gaming and RNGU in the lower. A winner will be declared on July 10, so expect an update soon.
