OGA Dota PIT already had the best teams from Europe and CIS compete in its first season. Now it’s time for another edition of the online Dota 2 tournament.

The first season of OGA Dota PIT featured only two regions – China and Europe/CIS. The second season is currently underway and a champion will be declared in China tomorrow. The organizers announced that the next stop is NA and LATAM, but it seem the tournament will also return to Europe and the CIS once again.

OGA Dota PIT Season 2 will feature another tournament for the Europe/CIS region starting July 27. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

The teams

Instead of ten teams like in the first season, now there’ll be only eight:

  • OG
  • Alliance
  • Virtus.pro
  • Natus Vincere
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • FlyToMoon
  • Team Nigma
  • Vikin.gg

The list is almost the same as in the previous edition of the event with one major exception. Team Secret are nowhere to be found! The European powerhouse has taken six trophies from the last six tournaments they attended.

Judging by the post above, the team will be taking a break during July, so others might also enjoy the taste of victory. Ninjas in Pyjamas recently lost a player as Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev left the organization on Tuesday.

Who’ll be playing as a stand-in is still a mystery, but we’ll surely get an answer in the weeks to follow.

The format

In terms of format, things have changed. There will be no group stage this time, as the eight teams will jump directly into the playoffs. Following the double elimination rule, all series will play as Bo3 with only the grand final being a Bo5.

The OGA Dota PIT will kick off on July 27 and come to an end on July 30. The total prize pool of the event is $170,000 which is quite a lot for such a short tournament. A stream will be available on the official OGA Dota PIT Twitch account.

There’s only one question remaining – who will win the event when Team Secret aren’t there? Would be OG? Perhaps, Team Nigma? Maybe Vikin.gg? Which team is your favorite? Give us your opinion on our Facebook page.
