Orgless disband, Road to Rio can't replace them

Orgless have disbanded with immediate effect. The move comes out of nowhere, in the midst of ESL One: Road to Rio, and following an impressive showing at Flashpoint Season 1. Due to the timing, ESL will not be able to draft a replacement.

From Orgless to rosterless

Orgless assembled at the beginning of the year specifically for the North American ESL One Rio Minor but kept on going beyond that point and ended up qualifying for Flashpoint Season 1. The roster of Pujan “FNS” Mehta, Yassine “Subroza” Taofik, Matthew “WARDELL” Yu, Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker and Gage “Infinite” Green performed well in the league and finished 5-6th, securing a $35,000 check.

Given the results that’s hardly going to be the reason for Orgless’ disbandment. The safe bet is lack of funding because if you haven’t guessed it, Orgless were not backed by a stable organization. And yet everything is online now, limiting expenses to a minimum, and the team did grab a solid sum of money from Flashpoint, so the question stands as to why it came down to this.

Orgless had played two games at ESL One: Road to Rio when the news broke – losses to Evil Geniuses and Cloud9, but those results, as well as any upcoming games they would have engaged in, will be nullified. This leaves NA Group A with five teams fighting for three next stage places – the aforementioned EG and C9, Gen.G, 100 Thieves and Triumph.

None of the now former Orgless roster have given clarity on the decision to disband or any future plans. A move to Valorant proves more and more to be an enticing option for CS:GO players left in limbo, so it wouldn’t be surprising if next time we see those nicknames, they might be playing a different first-person shooter.
