The expected powerhouse team’s woes continue after an embarrassing loss to Team Vitality results in their first 0:2 week of the LEC 2020 Summer Split.
After Friday’s loss to Rogue, Origen came into this match eager to end the first half of the season on a high note against what should have been a beatable opponent. While far from their sad Spring split performance, Vitality had lost four out of their last five games.
Indeed, Origen had a minor gold lead early on, but a 9-minute towerdive attempt backfired as Lucas "Cabochard " Simon-Meslet survived long enough for reinforcement to come and his mid laner Aljoša "Milica" Kovandžić secured first blood. Origen had better control over the early games, but Team Vitality had better tower pressure that led to a small gold lead. 20 minutes in, the teams had a 1:1 fight, but a failed flank by Erlend "Nukeduck" Holm resulted in Vitality killing him and getting the drake that could have been an early infernal soul for Origen.
The veteran mid-laner made another key mistake 26 minutes in when he did not immediately secure an inhibitor and was caught recalling in the enemy base after his team conceded the drake for his push. After killing him, Vitality proceeded to take Baron and two more kills when Origen came to contest. With the buff, the French team quickly pushed in, getting two inhibitors before beating back an engage and ending the game.
While Vitality played a fairly clean game and seem to finally be clicking, Origen definitely did not look on point in this game. While there were several obvious mistakes by Nukeduck, the veteran mid laner was not the only issue on the team. It is good that there will be a break in the LEC schedule next week, because Origen can definitely use the time to reset.
