Ghost of Tsushima Fans Raise $260k

Okay, this is really different and cool. Watatsumi Shrine is a historic monument on the real-life Tsushima island. It needed to rebuild its Torii gate that was destroyed as a result of a typhoon and launched a somewhat humble crowdfunding campaign with a goal of roughly $47,500. Many people, including a great number of Ghost of Tsushima video game fans, took matters into their own hands and put together a sum exceeding $260K. Honorable warriors one and all!

MachineGames & Lucasfilm Games Work on an Indiana Jones Project

Classic adventure game company Lucasfilm Games was recently reformed to the delight of gamers everywhere. It is now officially confirmed that they’ll be teaming up with the studio behind the Wolfenstein series to create a new game inspired by the classic movies created by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.

The executive producer of the project is none other than Todd Howard himself. Fan concerns about the man stretching too thin were put to rest in a tweet stating that Howard’s "main focus remains directing the upcoming Starfield and TES6 games", and these "weren't affected by today's news." We’ll see about that.

Capcom's Data Leak Was Even Worse

Sometime in November, we reported on a ransomware attack on Capcom. It ultimately resulted in many leaked plans, but also personal information. It’s been confirmed that more than 16,000 people have been affected, instead of the originally reported less than 10. Well, this week we learned that the actual number of affected gamers is close to 390,000. Sheesh!

Special PlayStation 5 Canceled Over “Credible Threats”

Sony-partnered company SUP3R5 has been working on a special run of 300 PS2-themed black PS5 consoles aimed at super-collectors. The machines were originally priced at $649 and sold out in less than 20 minutes, naturally leading to scalpers taking to sites like eBay to resell the valuable pieces for a huge profit. SUP3R5 declared war on such speculators, but fans started to complain that their bank accounts have been charged without a confirmation that the order was processed first. Eventually, all orders for the boutique item were canceled after the company reported “credible threats to their safety” in a statement. Can we please not have horrible things like these happen in our industry?
