For those who wish to play around with their own data manipulation, the Overwatch League Beta Stats Lab is for you.
Last night, stats producer for the Overwatch League Ben “CaptainPlanet” Trautman put out an incredibly detailed post discussing the use of his own creation tool, the Beta Stats Lab.
“The statistics content you see largely all comes from the same source: tools that I created for myself and league staff to use. These powerful tools were originally created for internal use only, but that all changes today.” - Ben Trautman
Ben details how a much polished and refined version will be available for public use, so if you’ve ever wanted bragging rights to your favorite Overwatch League team dominating a particular season, you’ve now got the stats to back it up! Neat, right?
How it all works
The Beta Stats Lab will be in four separate and quite major categories: Players, Heroes, Matches, and Teamfights. Naturally, when looking at Overwatch League players you can expect to see career highlights, records etc. while the other tabs will contain detailed descriptions on how they work.
Ben mentioned that a vast set of data has already been approved and that the Beta Stats Lab will continue to be updated in the 2020 split. In addition, as this is a Beta, there is room to grow and improve with community feedback, so let him know what you think.
For a very in-depth look at how it all works (bells, whistles and all) in the latest post, we have several videos going over the Beta Stats Lab in its entirety. So, for all you data lovers and graph creators out there, you can now get your math on.
Thanks, Ben!
