We had to wait a long time in... Anticipation. New videos about her playstyle and nerfs from the test phase just increased our curiosity. But finally, Echo is here for Overwatch Patch 2.86. Was our patience worth it?
Shiny cover, steel wings, a trustworthy face, all in blue beauty. Echo is finally live in Overwatch after delighting players on the test servers with its various features as the new Overwatch Damage Dealer. There are also new Twitch rewards for the new hero number 32 and a tournament planned especially for her. The patch notes are not only made up of Echo, but there are also many balance changes. Keep reading for more details!
We hear an echo
System reboot complete. We're good to go. Echo has arrived on the live servers of Overwatch and can now be found in just about every match. It floats, it shoots down the opponents and convinces with artificial intelligence.

Echo is now out on all platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. We've already reported on her different capabilities, why we would have wanted support instead of a damage dealer and why we're still happy. One thing is for sure, Overwatch hero number 32 will bring some new tricks into the game and will have an impact on the gameplay – after all, she's being picked often due to her game-changing ultimate.

Echo rewards
Echo also has two achievements or trophies that reward players with sprays:
- Focused: Achieve two deadly shots with her beam capability.
- Adaptability: Use Echo's Ultimate, copy two enemy heroes and execute their Ultimate. (We had fun with that one)
You can learn something from every situation. Link your Blizzard and Twitch accounts and earn Echo in-game sprays for watching Overwatch on Twitch! https://t.co/ZA9hmOsGjb pic.twitter.com/gWPxQy9Nhw

Tournament – Flash Ops: Echo Showdown
And now the real highlight. Blizzard Entertainment is hosting an Echo event for Europe and North America. In each region, the winner will receive $25,000 in prize money – not bad for a "Look, we have a new hero" tournament.
The teams are required to have an Echo player and can register up until April 17. The first matches will start on April 18. It's great this event is aimed at casual gamers. Players from the Overwatch League and Contenders are also welcome but there can only be a maximum of two of them in each team. Exciting!
Overwatch Patch Notes 2.86
Echo is featured, of course, but Blizzard has put a lot of other updates into this patch as well, including multiple balance changes:
New Feature: Training Partner
- Within the training area, turn your training partner into any hero to test the skills of your champion.
General
- The Overwatch team has opened servers in a new data center to improve the gaming experience for players in the Middle East. The servers are available since yesterday, April 14th.
- The "Patch Notes" in the main menu and within the options menu has been added. Clicking on them will open a web browser with the latest available game updates.
Competitive Updates
The new Competitive Open Queue will be available in the Arcade for about four weeks. This mode uses the standard rules of competitive play, including Hero Pools, but has no role restrictions or role queues.
Hero Updates

- The accuracy of Blink has been improved so that Tracer is more likely to land where the crosshairs point (hopefully!).

- Team FFA settings and some hero settings are no longer reset in Custom Games.
- On certain maps, the Hero selection screen would display voice messages from opposing teams.

Maps
Blizzard World
- Fixed a bug that allowed players to stand in an unintended place between the first and the second point.
