Rocket League Esport is finally picking up pace again! While the past year has definitely been quite entertaining and even broke some records, the RLCS season 2022-23 is finally getting started. We have summarized the most important dates and facts for you right here. So in about two to three minutes, there will be nothing you don't know about the new season.
Rocket League Championship Series 2022-23: All You Need To Know
The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) is where the biggest tournaments of the year are taking place. The best players in the world will compete for fame, honor, and a lot of prize money in the 2022-23 season once more.
RLCS Format – How It Works
Compared to the last season, some things stay the same, while other features are being overhauled or added for the first time. As you know might guess, the RLCS 2022-23 is also divided into three sections – there are no changes regarding the Fall, Winter, and Spring Split. On top of that, three Regional Events are being held every split – and now they have standardized names. First comes the Open, then a Cup and finally an Invitational. The largest tournament of each split is the Major.
Where it gets interesting is the format. The way the tournaments are played changes with every split, so you don't get bored.
- Fall Split: Swiss Stage with 16 teams, after that Single-Elimination Bracket with 8 teams
- Winter Split: 4x4 Round-Robin group stage, after that Single-Elimination Bracket with 12 teams
- Spring Split: Double-Elimination Bracket with 16 teams
Nothing will change in qualifying for the Rocket League World Championship, though. The format containing BO3, BO5 or BO7 matches remains as well.
Fall-, Winter- And Spring-Split Schedule
The schedule of the RLCS 2022-23 is pretty strict, but actually always based on the same rhythm. Open, Cup and Invitational tournaments are held over a period of about a month. After that there is a break of a few weeks before the Major is just around the corner. After each major, there is a transfer phase in which the teams can strengthen their squad with new players.

The Best Teams From Each Region
Depending on how well each team performs during the season, they can earn different amounts of points. The teams with the highest total points will qualify for the World Championship at the end of the RLCS 2022-23. Sounds about right, doesn't it? The maximum number of points has been greatly reduced and simplified for this year – from 5,262 to just 300.

Rocket League World Championship
Just like last year, the Rocket League World Championship during the RLCS season 2022-23 is divided into two phases. It's Wild Card time from August 4 to 6, while a new champion will be crowned between August 8 and 13. This time, along with all other events throughout the season, teams will be competing for a total prize pool of $6,000,000. Just thinking about that amount of money makes my palms sweaty.
