Is Rocket League On Mac?
No, Rocket League left Mac in 2020 after Psyonix discontinued its support for the game on both Macintosh and Linux systems. Currently, the only way to really play Rocket League on a Mac computer is via Apple's Boot Camp tool, which simulates a Windows Computer. It's almost like Windows is way better, isn't it? Well, speaking on the decision to remove Rocket League from Mac, Psyonix said the following:
As we continue to upgrade Rocket League with new technologies, it is no longer viable for us to maintain support for the macOS and Linux (SteamOS) platforms. As a result, the final patch for the macOS and Linux versions of the game will be in March.
Rocket League seems to have been removed from Mac not simply to spite Macintosh users (though we wouldn't be totally against that reasoning, it would certainly be unbelievably funny if that was true), but instead as part of the Epic Games transition. Steam, as noted in the message from Psyonix, is a Linux-based system. Thus, with Epic Games shifting the game to its own platform, it has been removed the game from Steam. As Psyonix continues to improve Rocket League, it only makes sense that the game was removed from Mac.
Will Rocket League Return to Mac?
No, Rocket League will probably not return to Mac anytime soon. Epic Game's decision to move Rocket League off both Mac and Linux systems was not only a commercial decision, but one based entirely on their desire to improve and expand upon Rocket League and its technology.
Not only has there been no word from Psyonix to suggest that Rocket League will come back to Mac, but their reasoning is pretty convincing. If the technology doesn't fit, if they are not happy with the restrictiveness of Mac, then why would they make a return? It just doesn't make any sense. Oh, and if you used to play Rocket League on Mac: go eat a pizza.
