Rocket League has been missing from Steam for a good long while, but will Rocket League return to Steam? After the game shifted to a free-to-play model back in 2020, the game was removed from Steam, with Epic Games preferring that players use their own software. Now that it hasn't been there for a while, will Rocket League return to Steam?

The thing about Steam is that it is, unequivocally, the best gaming platform on PC. Nobody wants to use UPlay / Ubisoft Connect, nobody wants to use EA Origin, nobody wants to use that random one that CD Projekt Red uses, and nobody, absolutely nobody, wants to use Battle.net. Thus, the decision for Rocket League to be removed from Steam, and for players to be forced to move across to the Epic Games Launcher, was not a particularly popular one. With this in mind, we ask one of the most commonly asked questions in Rocket League history: Will Rocket League return to Steam?

Well, there's more to Rocket League than the question "Will Rocket League Return to Steam?". Just so much more. Here is a little taste of that "so much more". Enjoy...

Will Rocket League return to Steam?

Rocket League will not be returning to Steam, as it is now owned by Epic Games. When the game went free-to-play last year, it was placed on the Epic Games Launcher, and made unavailable on Steam. The game is pretty unlikely to make a return – at least in the near-future – with Epic Games having found tremendous success with the switch to Rocket League's new free-to-play model. Why would they return when they have the market cornered, after all?

Can I Play Rocket League on Steam?

Yes, you can still play Rocket League on Steam if you were playing on Steam prior to the change-over to the Epic Games Launcher. We hope that makes you happy. The game will not, and has not, been removed from Steam libraries, and thus can be re-downloaded by Steam players. Additionally, the game supports cross-platform play, and thus, you shouldn't have any problems playing with non-Steam players.

So, in summary: no, Rocket League will not return to Steam, but yes, you can still play Rocket League on Steam if you owned the game prior to the free-to-play shift. Yay!
