The Chinese superstar Dota 2 team is all ready in terms of players but the same couldn’t be said about the squad’s coach Bai "rOtK" Fan.
We’ve had a good deal of details coming out regarding the latest Dota 2 team in China – 4AM. Four Angry Men gathers some of the best players from the region but that didn’t come without some difficulties. First, it was the case of Zhang "Eurus" Chengjun whose transfer proved problematic and 4AM were about to replace him with Liu "Sylar" Jiajun. At the last minute, Eurus proved to be their final choice.
Now we have a similar case with the team’s coach Bai "rOtK" Fan who won’t be part of the new squad. Fan is one of the most respected coaches in the Chinese region, but it seems 4AM won’t be able to afford him. According to a recent stream by rOtK, the new organization stood him up until the last moment. Reportedly, the negotiations between Fan and 4AM lasted for months and he had to reject both an extended contract by Vici Gaming and an offer by Team Aster. Instead, he chose to go with Four Angry Men. His teammates convinced him to agree to a lower salary but in the end, 4AM’s budget proved insufficient to afford the coach even after they agreed on it.
The reason for the whole situation had something to do with Eurus and Sylar. If 4AM signed Sylar, there would’ve been enough to also get rOtK but since the team chose to go with Eurus it seems the budget was broken. Fan revealed that he later spoke to the co-owner of Vici Gaming Chen Qing who told him that he’ll always be welcome back with them. The famous coach was quite emotional during the stream and revealed that he’ll be taking a break from Dota 2 to better think things through.
4AM haven’t even played in a single tournament but we hear something new about the team every week and it’s usually not good. Is the new organization biting more than it can chew? What do you think? Will 4AM find success in the Chinese Dota 2 scene? Share your opinion on our Facebook page!
