Harold & Kumar 4 is no longer just a pipe dream, as the creators of the movies confirmed that talks for a potential sequel are ongoing.
The original Harold & Kumar movie was part of the stoner comedy genre that was pretty successful in the early 2000s, like Pineapple Express or How High , and has since launched 2 sequels of questionable quality. Now, almost 20 years after the initial movie released, Harold & Kumar 4 seems more likely than ever, as the franchise's creators, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald revealed not too long ago.
The chaotic adventures of Harold and Kumar always ended up with the main characters being stuck in the worst possible situations, while trying to complete the most basic tasks. In the first movie, they set up to get some burgers at White Castle which was interrupted by a coked up version of Neil Patrick Harris who derailed their trip for some strippers. From there on, things just keep on spiraling out of control, when all they wanted was to eat some burgers.
Harold & Kumar 4 Is Something The Creators Are “Determined To Do”
The things we know regarding the sequel, comes directly from an interview that ComicBook had with Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald. Hurwitz and Schlossberg especially were heavily involved in all three previous movies and just gave us a more than promising update regarding the fourth.
It's something we're all determined to do. Well, first of all, we are dying to make another one [...].l We had a dinner not long ago. About a month ago with John (Cho) and Kal (Penn). We're all talking about making another one. It's really just a matter of time. It's figuring out when it could all fit into all of our schedules. It's something that we're all determined to do. We just need to find the time to do it.
So not are only the creative and funny writers back for a sequel, but even the main cast? If that doesn't sell you on the movie, then I don't know what will!
Sure, there's always the question of when this project will finally take off, but as to whether they will make this movie, they didn't leave any doubts whatsoever. Harold & Kumar 4 will happen, they “just need to find the time to do it”.
It will be especially funny to follow the adventures of the now “more mature” Harold and Kumar as they decide to once again have a nice pot-filled trip that promises to be utterly chaotic.
Let's see how the humor of Harold and Kumar holds up in the 2020s, it might just end up getting canceled for including way too many offensive jokes.
