There might be a big Dota 2 team shuffle coming in China. According to rumors, Somnus and fy have left the Chinese powerhouse LGD in order to form a new team.
Chinese Dota 2 is as good as ever but a lot can soon change in one of the major organizations in the region. PSG.LGD have been an absolute powerhouse over the last two years as the team managed to finish in the top 3 in the last two editions of The International. In 2020, LGD hasn’t exactly been lacking results but they didn’t have the chance to play in an international tournament due to the coronavirus crisis. On the other hand, PSG.LGD’s dominance in China was questioned a couple of times as they were bested by rival organizations like Invictus Gaming, EHOME, Vici Gaming, and others.
According to the latest rumors, two of the LGD star players might be looking for a new team soon. Lu "Somnus" Yao and Xu "fy" Linsen have reportedly left the Chinese powerhouse and we could soon be seeing a brand-new organization forming up. Either that or they’ll get signed by one of their rival orgs.
Not too long ago, Four Angry Men (a Chinese PUBG team) announced they’ll be joining the Dota 2 scene. This quickly spread the rumors that Somnus, fy and potentially other star players will be joining in to make a so-called star team. 4AM manager Sun “Longshenjue” Haoming shared on social media:
The statement in the Weibo post above translates to "A big project is on the way. Stay tuned!".
Another potential player who’ll possibly join 4AM’s Dota 2 team is Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun (formerly known as “Paparazi”). He’s currently playing for Vici Gaming, but the latter posted a very interesting status recently.

On the picture, there’s one member of the team missing and it’s exactly Eurus. Coincidence? We think not. The final two pieces to the team are reportedly part of EHOME. Zhang “Faith_bian” Ruida and Zhang “y`” Yiping were part of the legendary Wings Gaming line up that had an amazing run in The International 2016 and ended up winning the prestigious event. Their playstyle was really something to behold as it strayed away from what many of us were used to see in pro games. If all of the rumors turn out to be true, we might soon witness the creation of one of the greatest Chinese Dota 2 star teams. Then again, individually skilled players not always make a great team as we’ve previously seen teams great on theory that didn’t work out at all. Note that all of the above is still purely speculation and rumors so take the information with a grain of salt.
