While some of the top teams already received direct invites for ESL One Los Angeles Major, others struggled to earn their spot. We'll take a look at some of the famous Dota 2 organizations that didn't make it through the open qualifiers of the upcoming tournament.

B8

B8 is one of the most recently formed esports teams and it wouldn't be as widely known if it wasn't for Danil "Dendi" Ishutin. Dendi was considered the face of Dota 2 for many years, but he has slowly fallen out of grace in recent times. Many fans were eager to see the pro player back in action and hoped that the new team will make their debut in the Major or at least the StarLadder Season 3 Kiev Minor. It seems that won't be the case – B8 were eliminated in the round of 8 by Modus Unity in the CIS open qualifiers for the Major.

Dendi and his squad will have another chance to make it to a DPC event in late March when the qualifiers for the ONE Esports Singapore Major are set to begin.

Cloud9

Now here is a fan-favorite team in Dota 2 which was missing for years. Cloud9 announced their return at the end of January. The new roster included famous players who were already part of the org in previous years such as Rasmus "MISERY" Filipsen and Johan "pieliedie" Åström. Despite being a North American company, Cloud9 competed in the Southeast Asian open qualifiers where they got eliminated in the Round of 8 by the relatively unknown Trust Gaming.

Whether the current squad will stick until the next round of qualifiers remains to be seen.

T1

T1 have made their first steps in Dota 2 in August 2019 when the first member of the team was announced to be Lee "Forev" Sang-don. While T1 haven't been part of Dota 2 until now, their exploits in League of Legends are known far and wide. The organization has won the World Championship, an equivalent of The International in League of Legends three times. Naturally, expectations for their Dota 2 roster were high. On January 31, T1 completed their squad and added Dominik "Black^" Reitmeier among others.

The team was just a step away from securing the top spot in the open qualifiers, but they eventually lost 1-2 to IO Dota 2 in the finals.

With the open qualifiers already behind us, it's time to enjoy the closed ones which are already live. You can check out the official ESL Dota 2 stream on Twitch.
