Beyond the Summit are keeping things fresh in the competitive scene with their latest event – The BTS Pro Series. The tournament started last Friday April 10 and will conclude next Sunday, April 26.

Usually, Beyond the Summit aren’t into online events as their signature tournament is DOTA Summit, typically held in the studio’s house in Los Angeles. In the current times though online events are pretty much all we’re left with due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Beyond the Summit Pro Series is limited to only a couple of regions – North and South America which play together and Southeast Asia. Since the event kicked off last Friday, we’ve already a few days of intense Dota 2.

North/South America

Evil Geniuses are, as usual, the favorites for the region despite playing with two stand-ins. Eric "Ryoya" Dong and the team’s coach Kanishka "BuLba" Sosale are standing in for Abed “Abed” Yusop and Roman "RAMZES666" Kushnarev. While they might not be in their top shape, EG are still currently in the lead after defeating Thunder Predator and beastcoast. The blue team is yet to lose a match. On the opposite side of the spectrum, we have another team from North America – Cloud9. The organization made a recent return to Dota 2 by picking up an entirely new squad made up of some famous names. It looks like fame isn’t enough as the roster has yet another rough start with already three losses behind their backs. This isn’t the first event Cloud9 has trouble going through and it won’t be much of a surprise if we see some roster changes in the next few weeks.

SEA

Lately, Fnatic has a reputation to keep. The team won DOTA Summit 12 which marked their first LAN victory for a long long time. They also took first place in the ESL One Los Angeles Online: SEA. Now Fnatic are up against some familiar faces from their region. They’ve already managed to take down Geek Fam, Reality Rift and T1.T1 are very similar to Cloud9 as both teams are currently at the very bottom of their respective brackets. The Korean organization recently entered the Dota 2 scene for the first time much like C9 and also created an entirely new roster instead of signing an already existing one. T1 have only played against Fnatc and Geek Fam which are probably the best the region has to offer, so their losses can be justified. With two weeks still remaining, there’s still a lot that could happen in the BTS Pro Series. There is hope for both Cloud9 and T1, but EG and Fnatic remain the favorites for the two regions. The BTS Pro Series takes place at the same time as ESL One Los Angeles Online which is at its last stage and only the EU/CIS region remains there. It’s easy to make a choice between the two tournaments based on your preferred region. Both the BTS Pro Series and ESL One Online can be found on Twitch and each of them offers matches every day. Don’t miss out on the action and stay tuned for more Dota 2 news.
