BoomTV hosted a $50,000 tournament in Call of Duty: Warzone together with CashApp. Some of the most famous streamers took part and there was also a chance for the spectators to win money.

BoomTV's tournament series Code Red turned green on Thursday. Together with CashApp they organized a CoD: Warzone tournament in which famous people like Vikkstar, DrDisRespect, Shroud or Ninja participated.

The format of Code Green

A total of 45 teams with three members each took part since Warzone is played in teams of three (at least until recently). Especially interesting was the format of the tournament: All teams had five hours to play matches and collect kills. The ranking or if and how many matches you won didn't matter. The number of eliminated enemies was the only factor when deciding the winners of the event.

It was played on PC as well as console and in public lobbies. The teams were allowed to leave games early and in the end, the kills from the five best matches were counted to determine the winner.

The prize money of $50,000 was divided among the top ten teams as follows:

  • 1st: $15,000
  • 2nd: $12,000
  • 3rd: $6,000
  • 4th: $4,400
  • 5th: $3,300
  • 6th: $2,700
  • 7th: $2,100
  • 8th: $1,800
  • 9th: $1,500
  • 10th: $1,200

$20,000 for spectators

As part of the tournament, CashApp paid out a total of $20,000 to spectators. To participate, all you had to do was follow the stream and when prompted, post your $CashTag in the chat.

The winners

The team around Tyler "TeePee" Polchow, consisting of him, James "Clayster" Eubanks and Ian "Crimsix" Porter won the Code Green tournament and thus secured a large part of the prize money. The team collected 298 kills in the five hours, putting them ahead of the other top performers - JoshOG's (279 kills) and Nadeshots (274 kills).
