The ESL One Los Angeles closed qualifiers are going at full speed and most of the results will become clear today. The few remaining series will be played out tomorrow. Some of the regions had a couple of twists and turns with fan favorites dropping down and getting replaced by brand-new teams.
Europe
Team Secret and OG were the leaders in their respective groups. Secret remained undefeated while OG had a tie with Team Liquid. The other two teams that made it to the playoffs were Ninjas in Pyjamas and Aggressive Mode. Surprisingly Nigma and especially Alliance after their amazing performance in Leipzig ended up in the bottom side of the groups.
CIS
Virtus.pro were absolute beasts defeating everyone in their group, but at the time of writing of this article they already lost in the playoffs against HellRaisers. Na'Vi and Cyber Legacy also made it to the playoffs and are about to decide who'll make it further.
EXTREMUM and Modus Unity who stood out in the open qualifiers have had a rough time in the closed ones. Gambit Esports and forZe have earned a spot in the StarLadder Season 3 Minor by placing in the 5th-6th place.
North America
The four who made it to the playoffs in North America are Evil Geniuses, Fighting PandaS, Chaos Esports Club and business associates. EG proved to be the best team in the group stage and their next opponent will be Jacky "EternalEnvy" Mao's Fighting PandaS. The newly formed business associates squad contains some well-known players including the old-time veteran and TI-winner Clinton "Fear" Loomis.
South America
Thunder Predator and paiN Gamingshowed the best performance in group B and earned a spot in the playoffs. Group A proved rather interesting as the top 3 teams there had the same amount of points. As a result, FURIA, Infamous and beastcoast will play a tiebreaker series to decide who'll drop out. The loser of the three will have to settle for a spot in the Kiev Minor instead.
Southeast Asia
The biggest surprise in this region was that TNC Predator didn't make it to the playoffs. Instead it was Fnatic, Team Adroit, Geek Fam and IO Dota 2. Fnatic prevailed over Adroit with a 2:0 and Geek Fam did the same to IO Dota 2. The two teams can now take a well-deserved break until the big event.
Who takes the third spot for the Major will be decided tomorrow, but IO Dota 2 seem to have higher chances.
China
As mentioned in a previous article, the Chinese qualifiers have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak and open qualifiers are set to start tomorrow.
In the meantime, there's still plenty of matches to be played out today and tomorrow. Make sure you follow the official ESL One Stream on Youtube or Twitch.
