The list of invited teams for ESL One Birmingham is now officially clear. The remaining participants will be decided by the closed qualifiers today.
The coronavirus affected all LAN events in multiple esports titles. Dota 2’s ESL One Los Angeles and ESL One Birmingham were also included in that list. As an alternative, event organizers switched most planned tournaments to an online format and ESL One Birmingham was no exception. The event was restructured to cover each of the competitive regions. Yesterday, ESL revealed the list of invited teams on Twitter.

Europe/CIS
Europe and CIS will be the region with the most participation, with a total of 16 teams. The list there is almost complete with only 3 teams remaining, two from the closed qualifiers and one more invitee:
- Alliance
- OG
- Team Liquid
- Ninjas in Pyjamas
- Team Secret
- VP.Prodigy
- FlyToMoon
- Natus Vincere
- Team Spirit
- Vikin.gg
- Gambit Esports
- HellRaisers
- Cyber Legacy
- TBA
- TBD
- TBD
The Europe/CIS region also has the highest prize pool of all, standing at $200,000. A couple of big names appear to be missing from the list such as Team Nigma and Virtus.pro. Chances are one of those will take the last invitation.
China
The second-biggest region for ESL One Birmingham will be China, with eight teams. When the closed qualifiers come to an end, the final two will be made clear:
- EHOME
- PSG.LGD
- Invictus Gaming
- Royal Never Give UP
- Team Aster
- Sparking Arrow Gaming
- TBD
- TBD
The prize pool for China will be $55,000.
SEA
Southeast Asia will feature six teams and a prize pool of $40,000. The final team to join will be determined by the closed qualifier.
- Fnatic
- TNC Predator
- Geek Fam
- Team Adroit
- BOOM Esports
- TBD
North and South America
North and South America will play together, just like Europe/CIS. The number of teams and prize pool is the same as for SEA, though. A total of six teams will be fighting over the $40,000 prize pool. Five teams are already revealed, with the last one coming from the closed qualifier.
- Evil Geniuses
- CR4ZY
- Quincy Crew
- beastcoast
- business associates
- TBD
The exact schedule for the event is still unclear. Judging by the fact that the closed qualifiers are finishing today, the main event itself should start in the next few weeks, probably by the end of May. There’s currently quite a few online events and ESL One will most likely avoid interfering with them in order to get the most viewership.
