This week in our two-part series, we take a look at a specific Dota 2 pro. If you want to achieve something in your life but you lack motivation, we would advise you to read through the biography of Topias Miikka “Topson” Taavitsainen. It will show you just how hard you need to try in order to be called one of the best in the world. The Dota 2 prodigy cemented his spot in the history books, so don’t miss out on the story of his personal life and professional achievements.
Topias Miikka “Topson” Taavitsainen: early career
Since Topias is only 22 years old, he does not have a lot of team experience under his belt. Prior to his current team OG, Topson only played for the teams SFTe-sports and 5 Anchors No Captain.
As these names probably don’t sound familiar to you, you can tell these teams are not really popular. We can freely say that this was his amateur career. However, once OG called, it did not take the Finnish wonderboy a lot to answer in kind.
Prior to his signing, OG could not find success anywhere. Two of their star players left the roster without discussing it with the team captain, Johan “N0tail” Sundstein. This did not sit well with the Danish support who could not stand Gustav “s4” Magnusson and Tal “Fly” Aizik.
The video below will give you an excellent insight into N0tail’s feelings once Topson and his crew dominated Evil Geniuses:
Topias is the only Dota 2 professional player that has a 100% TI win rate. So far, he is 2/2 and he does not plan to stop anytime soon. Here’s a quote Topson used in one of his latest interviews.
“First two were pretty easy. So why not go and get the third one?”
We will touch base on his personal achievements in Part 2 of Topson’s story, so stick around and do not miss out.
Personal life
It seems like professional esports players have all been influenced by their siblings. The story is exactly the same with Topson. Two of his brothers played Dota and they showed him the game. It did not take him long to dominate both brothers.
Prior to being a professional Dota 2 athlete, Topson wanted to be a chef. After he signed with OG, the Finnish mid-laner even dropped out of school.
Topias has 11 siblings in total in true Scandinavian family fashion. Seven of them are older than him while the other four are younger. It is also important to mention that his father works in construction as an entrepreneur while his mother is a housewife.
Just like every other gamer out there, Topson did not have the backing of his mother and father. He stated in one of his interviews that his parents often hid his mouse, keyboard and even unplugged the internet connection at times!
In 2018, Topias paid the highest taxes among all athletes in Finland. He earned around $1,9 million while he paid $1.1 million in taxes.
At the time of writing, Topson is in a relationship with Malaysian model Mawar Remy. His girlfriend is active on Instagram (@mrwmy). You can find a lot of them spending time together on her profile.
Now that you have found information regarding Topias personal life, make sure you stick around for the second part of Topson biography where we will talk about his achievements and a lot more. And if you love MOBAs as much as we do, make sure to check our Dota 2 and LoL sections for more news!
