WePlay!’s Tug of War: Mad Moon tournament is currently into its playoffs stage and another team might soon depart the stage.

Day 2 of the playoffs

The first series of the playoffs was played out yesterday between Aggressive Mode and Gambit Esports. The latter stomped their opponents with two decisive victories, ending the clash with a 2-0. Gambit’s next opponent today was Virtus.pro and the Russian bears proved to be too much for them. VP kicked Gambit to the lower bracket with a convincing 2-0 and now await their next opponent in the upper bracket finals.

In the meantime, Nigma went against Danil “Dendi” Ishutin’s B8. It didn’t go well for Dendi’s new team as they lost with a 0-2 to the European squad. Nigma’s next rival will be Team Secret who are also the favorites to win the event. After their victory at the Leipzig Major, Secret have been on an unstoppable winning streak and haven’t lost a single game in either the qualifiers for ESL One Los Angeles or the current Mad Moon. Nigma had some serious issues during the group stage, but all is not lost yet as they’ve made their way to the semi-finals. The winner between Secret and Nigma will face the Russian bears, while the loser will have another shot in the lower bracket against Aggressive mode.

The saga continues

At the time of writing of this article, the series between Gambit Esports and B8 is being played out with Gambit already in the lead after the first match. Game 2 will be a make-or-break for Dendi’s team, who have one only won a single series in the event over the South Americans Infamous during the groups. B8 were picked by WePlay! as a replacement for the Chinese Royal Never Give Up who, due to the postponed qualifiers for ESL One, were unable to attend Mad Moon.

The streams for the event are live in English and Russian, with one final series between Nigma and Team Secret remaining. Soon, more heads will roll.
