Fortnite’s Daily Duos Cups have been running since 25 March. During the event, teams of two are challenged daily to score as highly as possible within a given period of time. EarlyGame has tips and tricks for all you brave participants, on how to come out on top in Daily Duos Cup.
The Daily Duos Cup is all about teamwork. While the solo game is an intense and somewhat lonely affair, playing with a wingman adds an extra dimension of fun. However, fighting, building and exploring the environment with someone else requires a unique kind of strategic thinking - a type of thinking that's a far cry from solo play and its "every man for himself" attitude. In Duos, you have to build for each other, fight together, survive, and make sure you're equally prepared as you explore the map.
So there's a lot to think about if you and a friend want to compete in the Daily Duos Cups and get some Victory Royales. Thus, here are all the tips and tricks from landing to fighting in the end zone.
Landing
It is important that you tell your partner where you want to land. The rule of thumb is: concentrate on a certain building and either land together in the same location or split up just enough to find more loot. It is important to choose a place where you feel comfortable and which you know like the back of your hand. This way you can be sure that you don't waste too much time looking for chests and ammunition boxes. Knowing your way around is your best bet for a good early game.
Looting
As long as you and your duos partner landed in the same area, communication is everything. Always tell them what supplies you are collecting and call for backup if enemies are nearby.
If a battle is unnecessarily prolonged and you notice that the next zone is far away, prioritize moving and looking for another place closer to the zone to continue looting. This way you avoid getting caught in the storm. Movement is living.
Rotation
To rotate faster into the various zones, there are several possibilities. Besides the boats, the helicopter has now been added as a means of transport. With it, you can rotate faster but there’s also added danger: The chopper quickly draws a lot of attention and it’s rather easy to pick you out the sky. So if you are travelling by helicopter, it is safest to have the new crash pads with you.
The cable cars and geysers in "The Grotto" and "Steamy Stacks" can also be used for faster movement. Those who decided to land at "The Shark" have the chance to get hold of Skye's much sought-after grappler. Its uses are unlimited, making it the perfect item to rotate quickly. However, remember: This is not solos. Don’t leave your partner behind.
Combat
When it comes to fighting in the mid-game, caution is the name of the game. If you are far away from the next zone, you might want to prioritize movement rather than combat with the enemy duo. What if there are unexpected enemies in your path? Tell your partner immediately! Because, once again: communication is everything in order to win the Daily Duo Cups.
A common mistake is to be too descriptive when you tell your ally where the enemy is. Rule of thumb: First give the direction that the enemy is in. Next, look for a point of interest and call it out. Is the enemy trying to snipe you? If so, shoot back and tell your friend so you can focus fire the same target together. This is true for enemies as well as enemy structures.
The great thing about duos is that you can also flank your target. This forces the enemy to face two different threats rather than just one. If you are attacked out of nowhere, you have to make a quick judgement call on whether you should engage or not. Sometimes you have no choice, but other times retreat may just be the better option.
Of course, you cannot prepare for every aspect of a fight, so, when in battle, it’s a matter of thinking together while fighting and to work out the best course of action. If it makes more sense to flank from the side, then one of you should sneak around the enemy. If it seems more promising to build up to gain high ground, the best thing is to build a structure together. What fighting and building as a team can look like is showcased by this duo:
Building
Material supply is one of the most important things in Fortnite. You get it by cutting down trees or gathering resources from fallen enemies.
Again, communication is the key here. As long as both of you have enough resources at hand, you can build pretty amazing structures together!
It's also worth communicating how many materials you have available. This way the partner knows whether he/she has to help/support with his/her material or not.
Healing and resurrecting
Sharing is caring, so make sure you help your teammate when he or she needs healing or shielding. With the new throwing function it's easy to throw healing to your teammate over longer distances - useful if you are not together or get split up in a fight.
It always has to be clear who is carrying what: If both of you take a stack of Minis, it's more ineffective than, for example, one taking the Minis and the other taking the Big Shields.

If the partner is eliminated during a match, you should try to revive him at the Reboot Van. But don’t make your partner become a burden: Before you start resurrecting, it’s a good idea to build some basic walls around you. This provides much-needed protection from enemies that will be attracted by the sound of the van.
Endgame: Maximize points and play to win
As there are many placement points to be scored during the Cash Cups, it is crucial to get the endgame right. A high ranking is always the best approach. In the endgame, you want to get into the zone early. Once in the zone, you can build a fortress, which gives you the ideal place to look for players who rotate into the zone.
This is the phase of the game where it also makes sense to use your jump pads to get into the next zones faster than your opponents. But watch out, don't get in the opponents' sights...
If you don't have a jump pad, you should familiarize yourself with another skill: tunneling. In a crowded endgame situation, you have to stay protected from all angles during the race to get to the next safe zone. Nobody masters tunneling immediately, but practice makes perfect: In Creative Mode, there are special maps to practice tunneling and improve your building and editing skills. Otherwise, here's a video that explains the best way to learn how to tunnel:
Stay cool
Our best advice to win the game is to simply… stay cool and keep your calm. If you are inexperienced in fighting and building, simply go for a passive play style for a while. The game is about placement - kills are only required when the opportunity presents itself. Also, you shouldn't get angry - yes, we know… easier said than done. But there hasn’t yet been a Daily Duo Cups champion overnight. Trust yourself and your partner and, above all, have fun.
We hope that these tips can help a bit.
