Riot Games has made some small changes to some champs with LoL Patch 10.17. We are here to show you the absolute meta of the patch which you should currently play in the mid lane.

In this LoL tier list, we show you the best champions for each lane in relation to Patch 10.17. We especially focus on win rate and the carry potential because often, you will have to carry your teammates in the gap through the game. Today, we will take a look at the mid lane.

Which Mid Laners are Strong in LoL Patch 10.17?

5. Vladimir (Win Rate: 51.1%)

Vladimir is truly no early-game monster. His abilities have an immensely high cool down and he only has his escape tool Sanguine Pool every 28 seconds – which is exploited by many junglers early in the game.

However, if Vladimir survives the early game, he quickly turns into a strong late-game carry. He works great when flanking and tries to get into the opponents' backline to one-shot the enemy ADC.

Played correctly, Vladimir survives every fight and negates the damage of the enemies through his heals from his Q and ultimate. An absolute meta pick that counters many matchups.

4. Talon (Win Rate: 51.5%)

Despite the many nerfs, Talon remains one of the strongest solo queue assassins. His agility and E skill, which allows him to roam incredibly fast through the jungle to the top and bot lane, give him a great deal of influence on the side lanes.

Especially in the lower Elo brackets, where map vision is not so good, opponents often can't react in time to Talon roams, so the assassin gets his kills fast. On the lane, Talon is less present, so a good wave control is important to enable his roams.

3. Swain (Win Rate: 53.6%)

After the buffs in patch 10.16, the Noxian grand general is again a strong pick for the mid lane. Swain offers CC through his E ability (and additional CC through his passive), vision and slow through his W ability, damage through his Q and again a lot of damage paired with sustain through his ultimate.

All in all, he has a very complete kit. Swain has a perfect setup for ganks and despite his damage, he also has some tankiness due to the Rod of Ages build. In the late game, he is overloaded with damage and can hardly ever get killed since his ultimate can sustain him.

2. Galio (Win Rate: 52.8%)

Damage, CC and a global ult. Galio has it all. (Image credit: Riot Games)

Big, brave, and an absolute meta-pick: Galio is another great option that you should pick on the mid lane since patch 10.16 – and 10.17 hasn't changed that either.

Be sure to choose Aftershock in the runes because his abilities – Shield of Durand (W) and Justice Punch (E) – bring a lot of CC and thus a lot of damage. With his Shield of Durand, which protects him against magic damage, Galio is also a good pick against almost all AP champs on the mid lane.

Galio is a team-oriented champ which means that he is strongest when playing together with others and can determine the outcome of many team fights. With his global ultimate, enemies on every lane will be thinking twice.

1. Zed (Win Rate: 52%)

Season 3: Zed is back! After improving his W ability in Patch 10.14, more players are picking the good old mid-lane assassin again. And with success, because the champion currently has one of the highest win rates on the position. Who remembers Faker's Zed plays? They are now just as smooth as in Patch 3.13.

Zed has a rather weak laning phase until Level 6. This is especially noticeable against ranged champions. As soon as he has his ultimate at his disposal, though, the roaming game can begin. Who doesn't love to press R on the opponent's ADC, ending them with 1-2 attacks and quickly getting out of the fight?

Above all, Zed is a lot of fun but he's not easy to play – and it has to fit your playstyle because he's meant to be aggressive. However, if you play champions like Talon, Diana, or Akali anyway, you should definitely try Zed in the mid lane.

Are your mid mains on the list? Then congratulations and have fun climbing. If not, you should definitely try out these champions! Tell us your favorite mid laners on our Facebook page!
