The Supports in Patch 10.18 haven't changed much from 10.17, but there are a few surprises that have made their way into the meta. With the nerfing of the item 'Guardian' it seems the support role has become slightly weaker than in previous patches, but worry not. We've compiled a list of picks for you that still lets you win games.
In this LoL tier list, we'll show you the best champions for each lane. We especially focus on win rate and the carry potential because you often have to carry your teammates in any given game. Today, we will take a look at the Support position.
Which Support Picks Are Strong in LoL Patch 10.18?
5. Sona (Win Rate 52.5%)
Sona is a strong late game scaling support in patch 10.18. She has amazing heals, AOE buffs as well as team fight disruptions in her kit which all make her one of the top supports this patch. Though her laning phase isn’t the strongest and she is susceptible to ganks due to her being rather squishy, it can all pay off once you’ve scaled up. It is important to stay back, sustain your ADC, trade safely, and keep scaling otherwise she won’t be any fun to play. In the late game, she is an integral part of any team composition due to her healing abilities. Not to mention a well-placed R can stun multiple champions on the enemy team which is a great asset to have in any team fight.
4. Pantheon (Win Rate: 49.5%)
Who would have ever thought to see the Unbreakable Spear on a list for supports? Well in Patch 10.18 Pantheon has placed as one of the top support picks for the meta. Since he is strong in most positions, you can confuse your opponent's in the draft phase when choosing him. Not to mention the amount of kill pressure you build up thanks to his poke. His E let’s him soak up turret pressure, so you can push down turrets with ease. Also buying boots of swiftness enables you to roam all around the map, supporting your whole team easily. This is imperative, because as a Pantheon support you need to be ahead, otherwise he will completely fall off in the late game. This is a fun and interesting pick if you want to outwit your opponents and try something completely new which still works.
3. Nami (Win Rate: 51.8%)
Nami is the champion for those who want to dominate in lane. She provides cc with multiple abilities, while also being able to heal. Not to mention her tools to engage or even disengage in her kit are great. She is flexible in this patch and is able to help her team gain a solid lead in the bot lane. The most important ability in lane is her W, which can be used either to heal your allies or poke the enemy. This ability can hit up to 3 people with its bounce so it is important to watch out for positioning. Her passive enables her ADC’s movement speed which can be used to engage or to kite her out of danger.
2. Lux (Win Rate: 50.7%)
Lux has received a few nerfs throughout patch 10.17 as well as 10.18 with her primary keystone “Guardian” being nerfed. But she is still one of the top tier support picks this patch though. Lux has amazing range and can easily poke opponents. Her bindings are always a threat, especially in the early game when opponents are still squishy. Pairing her with an ADC adds to her strength due to her cc, as well as her shielding. Even with her AP scaling being lowered this patch she is still a dangerous pick against any laner.
1. Lulu (Win Rate: 52.1%)
Lulu is the early game lane bully in support form. She is the perfect champion to enable any carry to deal as much damage as they want and stay as safe and healthy as possible. She can also easily buff any carry with her ultimate ability. Pairing her with a long-range hyper-carry makes for some of the best synergies.
Lulu can play aggressive early on, especially against champions like Janna who aren’t very tanky. When playing against heavy crowd control champions such as Leona or Zyra, we advise you to stay a bit back and keep shielding and healing your ADC so they can continue to win the lane.
Lulu is also invaluable in team fights. She is able to buff and shield her allies with her abilities, enabling a tank to become tankier. Overall, Lulu is a solid champion who can help her team win the early game and snowball this lead into an easy victory.
