This year’s Dota 2 Battle Pass is one of the best we’ve seen, but requires a big investment. Valve listened to player feedback and increased the levels gained.
The Battle Pass has been out for over a week now and the initial hype is still going strong. Despite that players were able to figure out how much of an investment will be needed to reach some of the goals. The 2020 Dota 2 Battle Pass offers some nice exclusive visuals – two personas and three arcanas. The holy grail of levels to get all of those is 575. Fans were quick to calculate that by simply playing the game that’d be borderline impossible. In fact, obtaining levels for free will only get you around 150 or so, at least for now.

Yesterday Valve decided to make things a bit easier for the players. Here’s the full statement.
We've read feedback from the community that leveling feels harder this year. We looked into how things compare so far to last year. For battle pass players of all levels, on average players have earned 1.95% more free levels than last year. If we consider only players who after a week were below level 200, on average they have earned 7.91% more free levels than last year. However, we recognize that players still feel that they wish playing granted more, so we have a few changes included in this update:- Wagering battle point rewards are now increased by 50%- Guild contract battle point rewards are now increased by 100%- Sideshop gold for Recycling is increased by 65%- Sideshop gold for Guild contracts and upgrades are increased by 100%All these changes are effective as of this update. For sideshop gold earned through previous recycles, we will be granting the extra gold over the next few hours.
Perhaps the most impactful change from the list is the wagering one. While it’s the most uncertain it’ll also give you the biggest rewards. This year’s pass offers plenty of features and even the basic edition is worth buying. If you want to get all the exclusive skins, you’ll still have to make another investment down the line. Still it’s a nice gesture from Valve to the players.
