The Russian bears Virtus.pro have announced that their Dota 2 squad will be taking a break by going inactive and skipping their next event – ESL One Germany.
We’ve already seen quite a lot of roster changes in the Dota 2 competitive scene and there’s no sign of stopping. The latest changes might be coming to the Russian esports powerhouse Virtus.pro. The first curious thing we noticed was the fact that the main roster wasn’t the one to receive an invitation to the currently ongoing OGA Dota PIT Season 3 Europe/CIS. Instead, their place was taken by the secondary squad – Virtus.pro Prodigy. The latter managed to take a game off Team Secret yesterday which is considered a feat in the last few months. What we’re interested in now is the main team.
Virtus.pro Goes Inactive, Skips ESL One Germany
It’s no secret that the Russian bears have had a rough season. Ever since the global pandemic broke out and events started happening online, the lineup has lost their mojo. Most recently VP played in the Immortal division of the OMEGA League where they clashed with some of the best teams from Europe and the CIS. The end result? A 7th-8th place for VP, meaning they made it to the playoffs and were instantly eliminated in the first round of the lower bracket.
Yesterday the team made an official announcement on their Twitter page.

According to it, the entire roster of VP will be going inactive and also skipping ESL One Germany. This raises a couple of questions.
Are We About to See Some Major Roster Changes?
The roster might undergo serious changes but it’s still uncertain whether the entire team will be dropped or the majority of it. Our guess is that some of the older players in the team like Alexey "Solo" Berezin and Vladimir "No[o]ne" Minenko will remain as they’ve been with VP since 2016.
Who’ll Fill the Gaps at ESL One Germany?
Currently, there are two direct invitations missing for ESL’s Dota 2 event in Germany. FlyToMoon were invited but their whole roster got signed over by Natus Vincere. VP straight up withdrew from the event and the most likely candidate to take their place will be Virtus.pro Prodigy. That takes care of one of the slots. Who’ll take FTM’s place though?
VP’s Twitter went active today by dropping yet another message.

We’re all expecting an update and judging by the suspense it’ll be all about the roster. Perhaps VP will do the Na’Vi strategy? Signing some new players for a trial while the rest of the crew takes some time off. Fans are already speculating that Roman "RAMZES666" Kushnarev might be making a return but he’s currently still playing for Evil Geniuses. Even if that’s correct, we doubt it’ll be the only change coming to the Dota 2 team.
