WePlay! Esports has announced its involvement in upcoming tournaments throughout 2021 and 2022 for a combined $10M in prizes for both Dota 2 and CS:GO.
In June 2020, the Kyiv based tournament organizer, WePlay! Esports hosted its first esports event that was officially affiliated with Valve. Their unique and interesting set designs have lead to instant recognition by the fans. The tournament organizers have now taken another step forward, announcing a string of events throughout 2021 as well as 2022.
The company is all in, and they are planning around 12 Counter Strike and Dota 2 tournaments in the coming years. They plan to host LAN events in at least three different countries. Currently, they plan on hosting these LAN events in Kyiv, Los Angeles and one in Australia (the host city has yet to be determined).
WePlay! also plans to dish out a total of $10,000,000 in prize money over the course of all these events and a planned 1,700 broadcasting hours in both English and Russian.
This announcement comes after the successful online tournament: The OMEGA League for Dota 2, which has received much praise from the community. The event managed to rake in over 400,000 peak viewers during the grand final between Team Secret and OG which took place on September 6.
