Dota 2 LAN events are almost impossible amid the current coronavirus outbreak. However, event organizers WePlay! did the next best thing and announced their latest online tournament – WeSave!

We’ve seen many events canceled – not only in Dota 2 but in the gaming industry get as a whole. Any massive public gathering is viewed as a threat to public health and rightfully so, as the coronavirus outbreak is still far from under control in most countries. Even Valve, a company that is known to rarely communicate with players, made a statement and canceled several of the upcoming Dota Pro Circuit tournaments. First, it was the ESL One Los Angeles Major, then the DotaPit Minor and EPICENTER Major followed shortly after.
Ukrainian organizers WePlay! are the people who stood behind some of the most popular events we’ve seen in recent times. Making their debut for 2020 with the Bukovel Minor, the tournament broke viewership records. This was followed by the conclusion of their ongoing Tug of War series with their final piece – Mad Moon. With its cyberpunk atmosphere and high production quality, it came as no surprise that it was the most viewed event of this caliber.

As we mentioned, online is the only way to go in the current situation and WePlay’s latest endeavor is WeSave! – a charity event.

The novel Coronavirus COVID-19 has spread across the globe in just a few months and shows no sign of stopping. Many are ill with even more shut-in at home as health specialists search for a cure. Well, now its time to help their efforts and fight back against the deadly disease.
The online tournament is set to take place between March 20 and March 26 and will feature some of the best teams from each region. So far, here are the ones confirmed:

The list might be subject to change.
The total prize pool stands at $120,000 and it will be distributed for each of the regions, coming at $20,000 per region. No details are yet available on the format and all that we know is the number of teams per region – 4. One region will be played each day for a total of six days for the six regions.
WeSave! will also feature the casters we’ve gotten used to seeing at pretty much every event in recent times. The entirety of the prize pool plus donations from sponsors and viewers will be used to combat the coronavirus.
