Zezinho setting milestones left and right
Zezinho checked out a number of first time accomplishments in Paris this weekend – for himself, for Benfica esports and for the FIFA 20 competitive season as a whole. First and foremost, the Brazilian PS4 player won his first competitive title, finally breaking his LAN duck. He had previously lost three finals and most recently finished 3-4th in the previous FUT Champions Cup last month.
Benfica also have a lot to be happy about. The most successful Portuguese football club entered the esports scene just ahead of FUT Champions Cup Stage III by signing Zezinho and their trust in the young Brazilian paid off faster than anyone envisioned. Surely Benfica are hoping this is the first of many finals won by their new esports star.
The third milestone Zezinho set on the weekend is that he became the first PS4 player to win a FUT Champions Cup this season. Xbox ruled the series thus far, with Donovan "Tekkz" Hunt, Niklas "NRaseck" Raseck and Olle "Ollelito" Arbin asserting domination over their PS4 counterparts. Well, Xbox players’ reign has come to an end courtesy of Zezinho.
In fact, he defeated one of the very best Xbox players in the FUT Champions Cup Stage IV Grand Final to end the opposing console’s streak. Mossad "Msdossary" Aldossary – former FIFA eWorld Cup champion, was sitting on the other side of the server. Zezinho had his number though and was able to finish him off on his favored console after squeezing a draw out of the Xbox fixture.
This victory comes along with a princely $50,000 and 2,000 points for the FIFA 20 Global Series ranking.
