Valorant is a full week in closed beta and despite not being released yet the game will get its first tournaments – one by 100 Thieves and another by T1.
Riot’s upcoming shooter promises a lot and delivers on almost all fronts. Developers already clashed with account seller and hackers, while also dealing with the server capacity as more and more people are eager to join the beta. Before its actual start on April 7 the game had a Twitch Rivals event which features some of the most famous streamers, content creators and pro players. We saw the broadcast on April 3 and many of us got their first impressions from the game there. The participants there would turn into the streamers we most often see on Twitch, where people can tune in for a chance to get a beta key drop.
Now, exactly a week after the start of the Valorant closed beta, the game is getting two new tournaments. The first one is starting later today April 14, 12 PM CST and is organized by 100 Thieves. The owner of the Drake-sponsored organization is Matthew Haag better known as Nadeshot.

This time it’s April 16, 10 AM PST and the number of participants is still unknown. Apparently the whole thing is organized by Nerd Street Gaming. There will also be a separate event that will serve as a qualifier. The day right before, on April 15 everyone can take part and win some of the $1,500 prize pool. The winners will also qualify for the T1 event where they’ll go against some of the popular streamers and pro players. So what's the difference between the T1 and 100 Thieves Valorant tournaments? With 100 Thieves it'll be more of a showcase match between the teams announced above, while T1 want to focus more on the community by giving closed beta players a chance to join in.

In case you already have a beta key, that’s certainly good news. Valorant is in closed beta but it’s getting a lot of attention and Riot’s marketing team is doing an excellent job. With all the streamers, interest in the game seems organic and not forced. Only time will show us the numbers at launch and whether the shooter will manage to keep them. In the meantime, stay tuned for more Valorant news.
